Hologic is seeking Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the design of a complete and complex framework, system, and products.

What To Expect:

You will be expected to define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. You will lead the development, implementation, and adoption of best practices, processes, and tools to ensure delivery of high-quality software. As the Senior Principal Software Engineer you will be expected to collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop business application prototypes and technologies to improve clinical outcome and patient experience along the continuum of care. We are open to remote work, for the right person.

  • Driving force in defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for the solutions being developed.

  • Challenges and disrupts the status quo in high level architectural discussions and engineering practices.

  • Assist with defining and maintaining development standards and guidelines.

  • Guide and mentors peers to promote learning, development, and knowledge transfer.

  • Identify and drive organizational improvements and implementation of best practices in software, hardware and systems testing.

  • Drive the multiyear design roadmap.

  • Responsible for developing concepts, design, and proof of concept.

  • Responsible for defining requirements including specifications and electro/mechanical/software subsystem architectural requirements, and corresponding specifications and procedures.

  • Serve as primary technical solution design architect for one or more teams and their systems and integrations.

  • Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems.

  • Continuously studies the market, engages with the customer, and seeks feedback to gain understanding of market forces, the customer experience, and opportunities for product solutions.

  • Work directly with project managers and product owners to ensure that current and future platforms are aligned with customer and market needs.

  • Recognize cross functionally as a go to technical expert for their guidance and leadership in the development of the system architecture. Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives in designing Systems and implementing embedded SW platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and review architectural designs for Hologic’s systems.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends related to systems and provide guidance on their potential impact on Hologic’s systems architectures.

  • Work in cross-functional teams to deliver product-level features and requirements.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses.

  • Advise and provide technical guidance to other engineers within software development.

  • Assess third party and open source software.

  • Interface with hardware design and development.

  • Responsible for the development of software architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Promote and lead the development of learning, creativity and ideation throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: Master’s Degree

  • Preferred Minimum Technical/Advanced Degree: Master’s Degree

Experience

  • Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: 15 + Years

  • Preferred Minimum Technical/Advanced Degree: 12 + Years with Master’s Degree, 8+ Years with PhD

  • Experience leading development, implementation, and adoption of software best practices, tools usage, and policies; including build and test automation, version control policies, and development environments.

  • Experience aligning commercial product roadmaps with technical architectural roadmaps ensuring maintainable and sustainable software development.

  • Experience designing systems from ground up and implementing modular and scalable zonal SW architecture.

  • Previous experience as architect on large scale product or enterprise initiatives

  • Experience defining architectures that abstract SW from underlying HW to enable greater supply chain resilience.

  • Strong visionary leader with capabilities including, but not limited to, cybersecurity, application software architecture, and cross-platform software architecture.

Skills

  • Exceptional ability to ideate and develop visionary concepts, solutions, and products; excels at connecting technology capabilities with market requirements, evidenced by substantial business impact.

  • Able to lead the design of multi-year technology roadmap.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and document re-usable and scalable frameworks and components.

  • In-depth technical expertise in systems engineering and software development methodologies. Knowledge and experience across engineering disciplines.

  • Expert knowledge of the capabilities, limitations and interdependencies of hardware and software components within a complex system.

  • Experienced with automated tools for requirements and traceability management.

  • Thorough understanding of international standards for medical devices, FDA QSR and ISO 13485

  • Understands complex Product Life Cycle Management systems and how they interface with other data management and compliance standards.

  • Experienced in supporting medical device manufacturing and applicable government regulations such as FDA, FAA, SEC, etc.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Adapts communication style to suit different audiences. Creates precise, accurate technical documentation.

  • Ability to drive high level group discussions.

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple large-scale projects.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills- Ability to lead and motivate a team; Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively at all levels in a matrix organization to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish project goals.

  • Leads the organization in mentoring and developing engineers.

  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality presentations.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $170,500 - $266,600 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
