Senior Manager of Digital Engineering

Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a top-notch Power Management IC Team with Renesas’ leading Power Business Unit. You will be part of a very skilled group of engineers who are helping build world class automotive and consumer PMIC products that will power tomorrow’s automobiles. Your main responsibility will be managing the digital design team to execute product development. This task entails working with direct reports to ensure they meet project specifications, schedules, and automotive quality standards. You will establish and maintain digital design methodologies/flows and hire/mentor new talent. You will also work closely with the Engineering Director on the planning and execution of projects and resource allocation. Finally, you will act as the conduit between other design teams, PMO and relevant corporate engineering functions to support team objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Digital Design team in terms of costs and staffing to support device/silicon design requirements and willing to meet design deadlines as set by the program schedule.

  • Take overall responsibility for product specifications and the team's design of CMOS power management circuits meeting performance, area, power, and timescale constraints.

  • Mentor director reports, giving appropriate guidance and support, and reviewing technical and behavioral performance regularly.

  • Conduct appraisals, make remuneration decisions, proactively manage performance, and drive development for team.

  • Delegate project tasks appropriately, ensuring the entire team follows procedures and evaluation practices that are required by internal methodology guidelines.

  • Communicate company and team goals and ensure all team members identify the relationship between company strategy and their contribution.

  • Represent team and input into corporate engineering processes, and methodology improvement discussions.

  • Collaborate with the Engineering Director to drive recruitment strategy and take responsibility for direct hiring within team.

  • Collaborate with the Engineering Director to develop and manage annual budget.

  • Support the Engineering director to define the strategy and goals for the group and drive the resultant actions.

  • Drive resource planning, making recommendations to Engineering Director.

  • Make significant contributions to Renesas’s Digital Design and verification strategy, through representation at group management meetings, customer reviews and cross-site initiatives.

  • Interact with other group managers to ensure wider PMIC team cohesion and to rectify issues that arise.

  • Keep abreast of industry developments, driving continual improvements within team through effective change management.

  • Responsible for continual personal and professional development for all team members.

  • Responsible for planning, execution, and delivery of all application projects, in conjunction with PMO and Engineering director.

  • Overseeing that the pre-production process flow is followed by the respective group(s) for their projects, ensuring outcomes are of high quality.

  • Ensure the entire team follows procedures and design practices that are required by internal guidelines as well as expected from any state-of-the-art technology leader in the industry.

  • Any ad hoc tasks as deemed reasonable by your manager.

  • Perform design reviews.

Qualifications

Following are rough guidelines for the qualifications (Meeting all qualifications is not necessary)

  • Typically, 12-15 years' experience in Digital Design.

  • In depth knowledge of organizational objectives, including business trends and market awareness.

  • Strives for continual improvement in all aspects or work including policies and methodology.

  • Willing to organize the budget and plan team to meet departmental objectives.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to foster a commercial, collaborative and learning environment.

  • Mentor direct reports and review technical and individual performance regularly.

  • Collaborating with Senior leadership to develop team objectives in accordance with wider company strategy.

  • Ability to work with Senior Management to develop and work to budget.

  • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.

  • Results-oriented and able to deliver on-time under tight schedule pressure.

  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team.

  • Flexible to undertake occasional international travel at short notice.

  • Excellent command of verbal and written English.

  • Ability to propose innovative solutions.

Education:

• BSEE required (MSEE preferred)
