Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • This position requires a strong background in logistics and pricing analysis with proven accomplishments with cross-functional teamwork, experience working with remote teams and solid negotiation skills. As such, we are seeking someone with excellent communication and leadership skills to act as a main interface for vendors and subcontractors within their assigned scope. Responsible for analyzing cost/price data to determine price reasonableness, support and participate in negotiation efforts with subcontractors. Through data gathering and analysis, you will boost the effectiveness of supply chain operations. The position calls for strong analytical abilities, superb attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of the delivery process. You will collect data from many departments and make suggestions for ways to improve the supply chain using their interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. Responsible for protecting the legal and financial interest of V2X during all discussions and interactions with customers and suppliers. This role operates under the functional guidance of Supply Chain organization and Corporate Purchasing Manual. Must be comfortable with cold calling and/or speaking to subcontractors/suppliers and providing a summary of the discussion.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully responsible for the Freight Audit and Payment process, performing as the subject matter expert.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to establish best practices regarding Freight Payment, working to set leverage current and emerging technologies and resources in ensuring on-time freight transportation payment to our transportation suppliers as per the contracted pay terms.

  • Ensure proposed freight charges from the carrier are valid and accurate, coding the invoices into our payment system to route freight charges back to the appropriate program.

  • Qualifies logistics suppliers, supports the RFP process, assists with evaluating proposals, supports the documenting of cost and/or price analysis, and assists the SCA in maintaining compliant subcontract files in accordance with established procedures and FAR guidelines.

  • Assists in coordination with other functional areas on matters related to logistics; prepares responses as necessary to customer correspondence and other requests.

  • Identify, qualify and formalize which logistics suppliers should be on a preferred supplier list.

  • Evaluating the quality and value of existing contracts.

  • Preparing reports on purchasing metrics to share with management.

  • Maintaining a current database of vendors.

  • Sourcing new vendors.

  • Researching product prices and comparisons.

  • Determining price history and cost-effectiveness.

  • Gather data on each step within the supply chain, using it to recommend changes to reduce costs.

  • Negotiate with vendors and carriers to secure best pricing and ensure contract compliance.

  • Communicate with other departments within the organization to identify efficiency issues, develop solutions, and implement changes.

  • Analyze route schedules or load plans, historical activity, and customer trends to make suggestions for enhancing routing efficiency and solution efficacy.

  • To eliminate waste, examine present procedures and suggest or implement improvements.

  • Supports all internal and external audits and provides program support to both internal and external customers.

  • Proactively control key performance indicators, undertake root cause analysis, and employ transportation management systems.

  • Create weekly customer metrics for distribution and create customer performance reports.

  • Map typical operating procedures.

  • Respond to customer inquiries with independence and discretion, then offer solutions.

  • Collaborating with internal subject matter experts to address issues and assist with implementations.

  • Performs other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

  • BS/BA degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) years' experience working in a logistics or supply chain function.

  • Other Requirements:

  • United States citizenship required.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • Experience managing contracts, subcontracts or material purchases in support of a US Government prime contract preferred.

    Skills and Technology Used:

  • Possesses analytical and interpersonal skills in order to perform job responsibilities including negotiation.

  • Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices.

  • Uses specialized knowledge to solve lower complexity problems.

  • Investigate pain points within the process and develop solutions to resolve conflicts and inefficiencies.

  • Must be able to quickly and effectively process and assimilate large volumes of data, experience with excel will be essential to this role.

  • Demonstrated experience simplifying complex analytics to explain difficult concepts and garner cross-functional buy in.

  • Business/Logistics Acumen:

  • Uses tactical procedures every day in accordance with the defined business standards.

  • Experience forecasting using a variety of methods to inform future-state planning.

  • Working knowledge of Logistics financial acumen.

  • Effective Communication/Organization:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required. Effectively conveys ideas and messages both formally and informally, in speaking and in writing.

  • Good negotiation and organizational skills/techniques.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to collaborate and engage key constituents at all levels.

  • Someone who is adaptable, comfortable, and resilient in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and business needs. May frequently adjust priorities to include new taskings with little to no advance notice.

  • Keen sense of prioritization with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be capable of working independently in a high paced, demanding environment with minimal error rate.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork/Influence:

  • Ability to partner with internal stakeholders to participate in the development of logistics strategies in support of the long-range plans.

  • Establish and facilitate the business relationship with key logistics suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Maintain a friendly and professional relationship with vendors while promoting the company.

  • Software:

  • Microsoft Office 365 suite, including SharePoint

  • Transportation and logistics software

  • Technology:

  • Personal computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment.

  • The successful candidate’s starting pay will be based on, but not limited to, their job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.

  • The following salary range is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation and may be modified at the discretion of the company.

  • USD $ 70,000 - 125,000

  • Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.
