Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

The Senior Data & BI Analyst is responsible for providing for providing actionable insights to support business decisions. They work in collaboration with other analysts and stakeholders on the formulation of appropriate analytic approach to solve ambiguous business problems.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain a strong understanding of division results & key business drivers to be able to to apply understanding to analytic approach to influence key strategies and business performance.

  • Drive measurement, improvement, and optimization strategies by connecting business activity to outcomes that will help achieve stated goals.

  • Build and maintain an understanding of data flows, sources, and data transformations across multiple domains. Extract, merge, cleanse and transform data from multiple sources as needed for analysis.

  • Apply critical thinking to pressure test and validate logic and outputs against known sources and understanding of business. Proactively identify data quality issues and collaborate with other subject matter experts to identify solutions.

  • Define business and data requirements for analytic deliverables and serve as liaison with IS support teams. Lead collaboration with IDM for data improvements and proactively identify data enhancements in conjunction with division data stewards.

  • Actively participate in industry and trade data and analytic communities in order to bring fresh ideas to the organization.

  • Lead team to generate and incorporate insights into a cohesive story that clearly addresses business questions and influences decision making. Effectively lead the creation and communication of tailored messages to influence senior leaders regarding analytic ideas, approach, key takeaways, and actionable insights.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Consult with business owners to understand the business problem. Independently identify the appropriate analytic approach to solve the problem. Provide mentorship and feedback to others on analytic approach and leverage systems thinking to connect work to other strategic initiatives.

  • Lead and influence the development of KPI and benchmark development. Communicate results to senior leaders.

  • Serve as a functional and technical data subject matter expert

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Hiring Minimum: $96471

Hiring Maximum: $164262

Skills/Requirements

What You'll Need:

Experience Required:

  • 5-7 years' experience in relevant field

  • At least 4 years of analytics experience

  • Experience within an Agile environment preferred

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in business, economics, math, engineering, or analytics preferred (or relevant work experience)

  • Advanced Degree or Certification preferred

Functional Knowledge:

  • Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a job discipline

  • Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities

  • Proficiency interacting with various database and file storage systems (Examples: Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL). Understanding of join types.

  • Intermediate experience with data manipulation languages, such as SQL, required

  • Understanding of statistical concepts and analytic techniques, including descriptive statistics, forecasting, economic modeling, various regression techniques, machine learning, exploratory analysis, and variance analysis techniques.

  • Ability to determine if particular analytic problem requires capabilities that don't reside in the division. Proficiency in applying descriptive statistics, univariate analysis, forecasting, economic modeling, and class variance analysis.

  • Ability to use special statistical software for appropriate use cases

  • Ability to perform univariate analytic analytical techniques

  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience

  • Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work

  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

Problem Solving:

  • Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments

  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents

  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information

  • Ability to identify the question(s), what data is needed, analyze and interpret the results to recommend solutions to senior & executive division leaders for a broad spectrum of business improvement opportunities in a clear and concise manner

  • Execute on projects of a moderate complexity which involve cross-functional teams, collaborate well with associates and leadership throughout the division (and potentially firm leadership and/or external vendors)

Impact:

  • Has limited impact on own work team; works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; Ability to accurately assess risk and prioritize work

  • Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies; Identify, assess, and mitigate low to moderate risks that would impact the department

  • Develops and performs moderately complex analysis, typically with moderate business impact

  • Works with leaders throughout the firm, providing analytical guidance to directly influence business decisions

  • While there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, coordinating with others to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines will be required, and may be asked to occasionally mentor and train other associates on the team

  • Influence decision making, by gaining a deep understanding of inter-departments/divisions interactions the impact on firm operations and initiatives.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions and checks for understanding

  • Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations

  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus
