$60.00/hour

The Project Specialist III provides the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to assist with the development, implementation, and delivery of a First Responder Peer-Support Course. Provides advanced project management support to deliver projects within the established budget and timeline. Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and delivery as well as updating course and project materials as needed in support of the course. Responsible for the administrative duties as required to document and memorialize the cognitive and practical assessments for each course evolution.

This position reports to the Wellness and Resiliency Program Director.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (equivalency: will consider an associate degree with four years of related experience in project management or a High School Diploma/GED with six years of experience in project management)

  • Two years of related experience in project management.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Ten years of experience serving first responders, or as a first responder.

  • Experience rendering Critical Incident Stress Management, as well as peer-support and/or wellness services to first responders.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.

  • Ability to work outdoors for up to 8-10 hours/day.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • Physical conditioning consistent with lifting/moving light, moderate, and/or heavy project materials, documents, or equipment to include standing, walk, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of peer-support operations and Critical Incident Stress Management.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with clients and staff.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of office software.

  • Ability to comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Equipment:

  • Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.

Notifications:

  • This position is security sensitive.

  • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.

  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.

  • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.

  • This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.

  • This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.

  • This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TEEX does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

Cognitive and Practical Assessments - 60%

  • Performs advanced program and project development, disseminates project information, and serves as an active participant in project-related work groups and committees.

  • Travels to remote locations to conduct cognitive and practical assessments.

  • Conducts the assessment by working in conjunction with designated personnel to develop course curriculum as required to support the assessments.

  • Provides recommendations to achieve goals.

  • Reviews Power Point presentations for accuracy and correct content.

  • Prepares delivery area for participants.

  • Ensures all required classroom materials are available prior to each class delivery.

  • Arrives one hour before the course is scheduled to begin to ensure the room is set up and to greet arriving participants.

Fiscal & Project Administration – 20%

  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programs and projects.

  • Coordinates project activities, collaborates with project team members, develops measurable project goals and objectives, and monitors progress toward achievement.

  • Develops and disseminates work plans and project documents to include procedures, proposals, progress reports, and presentations.

  • Develops and prepares training and operational manuals.

  • Prepares materials, project aids, and equipment prior to project delivery.

  • Ensures project participants are contacted and notified of schedules, locations, and times.

  • Ensures project objectives are achieved.

  • Ensures all participants have achieved the terminal objectives of the course.

  • Ensures materials, project aids, and equipment are secured upon completion of project activity or event.

Security Assessment Reports Preparation and Delivery - 20%

  • Notes curriculum or slide deficiencies and improvements.

  • Attends after action reviews for each course delivery.

  • Provides improvements for Program Director.

  • Prepares agendas for meetings, documents key decisions, and collaborates with team members to develop project collateral.

Other Duties:

  • Performs additional work duties as assigned.
