Aggreko Project Finance Manager in United States

Description You will lead on all Project Finance matters , including forming the financing strategy, to enable the funding of Aggreko Energy Services ( AES ) projects .

Role Purpose

Reporting to the AES Managing Director, you will play a crucial role in strategizing, identifying and securing external funding to ensure the successful execution of development projects and other opportunities.

You will cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective lenders to attract capital and you will provide strategic and financial advice to the AES team on matters relating to project financing, encompassing deal structuring, valuation a nalysis, strategic planning, risk management, negotiation and transaction execution .

S uccess in this role will make a significant contribution to the energy transition journey of both existing and new customers.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Modelling and Analysis - Conduct thorough financial analysis of development projects, including revenue projections, cost estimates, and financial feasibility assessments. Create robust, detailed financial models to analyse project economics, cash flows, and investment returns. Conduct sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of various scenarios on project viability. 

  • Capital Raising and Investor Relations - Identify sources of funding for renewable energy projects, cultivate relationships with potential investors and, present investment opportunities and negotiate terms to secure funding. Monitor project financial performance (including all reporting requirements) and manage investor relationships throughout the funding cycle. 

  • Deal Structuring -– Develop and negotiate financing structures tailored to the specific needs and risks of each project, balancing the requirements of funders with project objectives . Lead the preparation of financing documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Provide expert advice on all project documentation and project matters to ensure no impediments to raising project financing. 

  • Strategic Planning – Develop and execute funding strategies aligned with project timelines and objectives . Conduct market research and competitive analysis and stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to the financing of renewable energy project development and investments in order to help shape growth strategies and market expansion plans. 

  • Risk Management - Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with project development, including market risks, regulatory risks, and project-specific risks. Structure financial instruments to allocate risks effectively. 

  • Due Diligence and Drawdown - Coordinate funder due diligence processes, including legal, financial, and technical assessments, to evaluate project risks and opportunities and addressing any concerns raised by funders. Ensure timely funding for energy projects by managing the drawdown process efficiently, including coordinating with lenders to facilitate the release of funds according to project milestones and funding requirements  

    Key performance indicators

  • The capital structure of AES energy projects demonstrably optimised through the balancing different sources of funding such as equity, debt, and grants; minimising the cost of capital while ensuring sufficient finan cial resources to support project development. 

  • Returns on investments maximised by evaluating potential revenue streams, optimizing project economics, and enhancing project profitability, facilitated by detailed financial analysis and modelling various scenarios, in order to facilitate data-driven investment decisions. 

  • Financing documents negotiated with optimised terms and conditions that are favourable to AES, including negotiating interest rates, repayment schedules, covenants, and other key provisions to minimise financial risks and maximise flexibility. 

  • Form a strong relationship with Aggreko treasury team to ensure AES funding is always compatible with wider Aggreko corporate funding facilities.  

  • Financial risks identified and mitigated, including conducting thorough risk assessments, implementing risk management strategies, and monitoring risk factors throughout the project lifecycle to safeguard financial performance. 

  • Successful execution of energy projects facilitated by providing financial expertise , supporting project teams, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including successfully leading lender due diligence and drawdown processes, monitoring project progress, and addressing any financial challenges that may arise during project implementation. 

    Location : Remote based, must be willing to travel in UK (notably London) and European trips as required

    What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in securing finance for en ergy projects and groupings of projects .

  • Pr oven record of working with in-house Development and Commercial Teams to embed project financing needs and discipline into all in-flight energy projects.

  • Ability to from and then implement funding strategies in collaboration with Aggreko’s F inance, Tax and Treasury teams.

  • A detailed knowledge of the project funding market, available products and services and current commercial lending rates.

  • A strong network of project finance funders and advisors .

  • Experience of UK is essential, contine ntal Europe advantageous .
