What We Want
The Office for Student Success First Year Experience team is seeking a First Year Experience Program Manager who will plan, organize, direct, and manage day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of programs that empower first-year students to succeed academically and support university goals of improved retention, graduation, and time to degree rates. This individual will provide oversight to the Hullabaloo U first-year experience course, specifically related to the Hullabaloo U Instructors, including recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and ongoing support of new and returning faculty/staff serving in the role of HU Instructor. This individual will also contribute to the overall development of a comprehensive first-year experience course and other transition and retention initiatives including developing curriculum and creating and implementing programs for new Aggies. This individual will have the opportunity to supervise a full-time professional program coordinator, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. This individual will also have the opportunity teach a first-year experience course. The ideal candidate would be excited to join a high-performing team dedicated to excellence and innovation in the first-year experience; have experience as a trainer/facilitator, teaching experience, as well as experience with curriculum development and assessment and evaluation. What You Need to Know
Salary Range: $58,000.00 - $64,480.00 (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of experience in program administration, student affairs, or other relevant higher education experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field
Five years of experience working with first-year programs, new student orientation, or similar student transition program in a college or university setting
Demonstrated experience in meeting the needs of college students from varied backgrounds
Experience supervising or advising student groups
Teaching experience
Experienced trainer and/or facilitator
Knowledge of programs for students in transition. Experience with the first-year student experience or developing programs for first-year college students
Experience with curriculum development
Experience with assessment and evaluation of learning and program effectiveness
Familiarity with learning management systems
Supervision experience
Responsibilities
HU Instructor Oversight
Plans, organizes, directs and manages day-to-day activities of the Hullabaloo U Instructors, including recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of new and returning faculty/staff serving in the role of HU Instructor
Oversees the budget for the Hullabaloo U Instructors program; coordinates with accounting personnel as needed
Assists in identifying funding opportunities for the program, as they arise
Develops and updates training materials for Hullabaloo U Instructors
Develops and conduct online and in-person training for 400+ Hullabaloo U Instructors annually and provides ongoing support and professional development opportunities
Maintains databases used to manage Hullabaloo U Instructors
Records all program materials
Evaluates Hullabaloo U Instructors and programming
First Year Experience Program Development
Contributes to the development of a comprehensive First-Year Experience course and other transition and retention initiatives that are informed by best practices in higher education to address needs of first-year students, first generation college students, and students at risk for stopping out or leaving college
Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals, strategic planning and unit budget
Assists with development of curriculum to be used in first-year courses
Plans, develops, and implements programs that empower first-year students to succeed academically and support university goals of improved retention, graduation, and time to degree rates
Assists with the assessment of student persistence and progress to degree
Supervision
- Supervises program coordinator responsible for oversight of peer mentors and graduate practicum students
Communication, Outreach, and Marketing
Directs all marketing and communications for the Hullabaloo U Instructors
Works with Marketing and Communications team to create communications, promotions, and public relations to support program and service areas as well as assist with marketing and communication of all the FYE programs
Collaborates with others to create new and expanded programs
Teaching
Teaches at least one section of FYEX 101, a 0-credit hour transition-to-college course
Prepares and facilitates weekly well-organized presentations, class discussions, and activities on various topics.
Develops a rapport and a safe relationship with new students
Communicates accurate and timely information to students about academic and student resources
Is accessible and willing to assist students as they navigate their first year
Meets regularly with the Peer Mentor assigned to section to coordinate and plan course components
Contribution to Student Success
Contributes to a collaborative campus-wide culture for student success by representing the first-year experience on university, division, and departmental committees
Researches, develops and writes articles and prepares presentations relevant to the unit for local, regional and national publications or conferences
