Full Time
Hourly Supervisor position in Pastry Kitchen.
Job Requirement:
Must be US Citizens, US Permanent Residents and Residents of Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and those who can work on Guam without a US work visa.
Valid Health Certificate.
Supervisor experience in managing crew members in Pastry Kitchen.
At least two (2) years of continuous experience in Pastry paration at a full-service hotel.
Language - Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
Knowledge and skills
Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and employees.
Problem solving, reasoning, analytical, motivating, and training abilities are often used when estimating food productions and coordinating functions.
Basic math skills, reading, and writing are used when completing paperwork and other reports.
Must be able to obtain a government-issued Food Handler’s Certification.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.
Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and externally.
What’s the job?
Work with the team following the instruction of the Kitchen Leadership Team.
This role is a supervisor position, will be the leader for the kitchen team.
Prepare Pastry items in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in standard recipes.
Be mindful during preparation and operation, when working with food and materials, to minimize waste.
Your-day-to-day
People
• Lead the team by example by promoting and maintaining a safe and positive workplace.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through regular communication and coordination with managers, team members, and other departments.
• Advice managers on daily staffing recommendations.
• Communicate management goals and ensure compliance of policies and procedures.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings as requested by managers.
• Assist in training and supervision of kitchen staff.
Financial
• Advice supervisor of low inventory items or may order necessary food items.
• Assist in receiving items and conducting inventory.
Guest Experience
• Prepare meals for respective sections or outlets.
• Assist in all kitchen activities to ensure guests receive high quality food items in a timely manner.
• Coordinate smooth service in relation to the pass and pick-up of food.
• Respond timely and appropriately to guest request and complaints.
• Make appropriate service recovery gestures in accordance with established guidelines.
Responsible Business
• Organize the day’s prepping for the cooks and restaurants; supervise line set-up and prepping.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed Resort and government standards.
• Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor or manager.
• Address and report any workplace injuries or illnesses.
• May assist with dishwasher, stewarding or other kitchen duties as assigned.
• May assist with other duties as required.
• Assist the Sous chef and Chef de Cuisine of their section in managing their area.
• Relieves the Sous chef on their off day in the section.
• All kitchen staff follow Kitchen SOP’s as set by the department.
• All commis must be flexible to work in any kitchen department as per operational needs.
• Work with clean-as-you go approach in the kitchen.
• Must have the ability to multi-task several kitchen jobs as per operational needs.
