The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking an outstanding applicant to fill a Nurse Practitioner position in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes. Under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures, the nurse practitioner performs consultative evaluations of patients with diabetes mellitus in the inpatient setting (50% time) and provides follow up for patients with diabetes mellitus in the ambulatory setting (50%). The position involves physical examinations and treating diabetes mellitus and associated comorbidities, educate patients and families, monitors patient progress. The nurse practitioner works at an academic medical center in collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of diabetes patients . Successful candidates will have strong clinical skills and interest in serving a diverse patient population in both an inpatient and outpatient clinical practice.

Requirements:

· Current State of California license as a Registered Nurse (RN)

· Current Certification by the State of California as a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) designation preferred

· Basic Cardiac Life Support certification

· Current Furnishing license to furnish medications in the State of California

· Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Justice for Schedule II-V controlled substances

· Possession of National Board Certification in Nurse Practitioner area of specialty accredited by Accreditation Board of Specialty Nursing (ABSNC) or National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

· Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) upon hire

· ACLS as required by the NPs Job description for NPs in the Hospital/Acute Care Setting and Ambulatory Infusion Centers

We offer a highly competitive salary package with excellent benefits. The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000-$155,000. This position will be hired as a clinical instructor. This is a practitioner position; you will not be teaching NP students.
