    What We Want

The MRI Technologist will support the operations of the Human Imaging Facility (HIF) of Texas A&M University, providing technologist coverage to accommodate requests for imaging services during times when technologist coverage is otherwise not available (generally, some evenings and weekend coverage). Primary responsibilities of this position will include screening patients and participants for MR-safety and conducting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams according to protocol. MRI exams will consist of diagnostic imaging for community patients and research scans associated with ongoing studies. The MRI Technologist will also coordinate the transfer of imaging data (to either a PACS or research data drive) and maintain a log of scanner time by requestor of imaging services. Work hours will vary week-to-week based on need, with some flexibility in when they are scheduled.

What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s experience.

Please Note: This is a temporary, part-time position with hours as required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Registration, Certification, or Licensure:

  • Completion of the two-year radiologic technology program, approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and holds a state of Texas state Medical Radiologic Technologist licensure.

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT(MR) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality clinical MRI exams according to protocol.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in a health-related discipline and at least two years of full-term (or part-time equivalent) experience conducting MRI exams in a clinical setting.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Siemens Prisma or other Siemens MRI scanner models

Responsibilities:

  • Conduction of MRI Research: Screen participants for MR-safety and conduct MRI exams according to study protocols. Assist with the preparation of pulse sequences. Review research scans for incidental findings.

  • Research Administration: Coordinate the transfer of imaging data. Coordinate the study schedule and maintain a log of scanner time used by individual PIs.
