ICONMA, LLC Mechanical Engineer V in United States

Mechanical Design Verification Engineer V Location: Seattle, WA (Onsite) Duration: 12 Months with possible extension up to 2 Years Description: Summary: A Mechanical Design Verification Engineer (MDVE) at Client uses engineering fundamentals, measurement systems knowledge, and hands-on creative skills to create, qualify, and execute verification tests, and to communicate results with product design partners. They will develop measurement and drive testing of MR HW product mechanical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - some of which are new to consumer electronics. Primary Responsibilities: Develop a deep understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be tested by collaborating across different disciplines and technology teams. Examples include functional parameters of user controls, customer-to-device interfaces, and data acquisition from such devices. Work with internal fabrication and prototyping teams to design test tooling. Develop and qualify customized test methods on turnkey and custom lab equipment. Design and execute test plans for these KPIs. Report results to MDVE leads and PDE partners to improve product performance. Additional Opportunities: Analyze data and results from various tests on prototype subsystems and devices. Review analysis results with peers, design engineers and cross-functional partners. Develop, operate, and sustain electromechanical automated testing systems. Design (CAD), procure, and assemble nests, fixtures, and tools. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required. Required Skills : 5+ years of mechanical engineering fundamentals application. Experience with engineering verification concepts and measurement devices. Experience developing and executing detailed test procedures. Displays attributes of a critical thinker and a focus on practical results. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical, problem solving, and engineering design ability. Strong ability to make sketches, perform common calculations, and generate measurement concepts. Practical experience with 3D CAD software. Experience with test and measurement systems Solid mechanical engineering fundamentals, work from the basics Curiosity and a desire to learn Preferred Skills/Good to have skills: Experience with statistical analysis and designed experiments. Experience in consumer electronics mechanical verification-validation. Experience with electromechanical device control tools such as Arduino and Python. Experience with statistical and data visualization tools such as JMP and Tableau. Experience with Siemens NX. Mechanical design verification engineer, the business deliverable is to make sure a devices mechanical system meets their specifications of what we call time 0, when it gets to the assembly line, it’s completely built. Statistical analysis and experimental design Consumer product experience Typical Day in the Role: Work with product development engineers and senior teammates to understand the mechanical functionality of a device or a system, develop concepts, and collaborate on tool and method design to measure the performance of the systems. Working with XFN partners and potentially contracted suppliers to define the scope and specifics of test cases and coordinate with a TPM the logistics of getting those tests executed. Require potential travel to those partners to make sure their setup and execution is correct and will also be a piece of analysis from the results to report back to either teammates or PD partners on the performance of the system or device. How will performance be measured: The MDVE Team Mission is to “Collaborate in the product development process to validate mechanical design requirements, accelerate design maturity, and verify that performance meets specifications.” We do this by asking, “What do we need to learn?” “What’s the fastest way to learn?" and “Is this the right thing for the customer?" Our ultimate success is indicated by a product ramping without late-program issues and meeting its customer-desired mechanical performance specifications. Thus, we measure our performance by speed of learning, quality of results, and rate of design improvement. Key Projects/Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Level 5 will be taking on some leadership for a specific verification area and mechanical domain, going to be more making procedures, and working with suppliers and partners to figure out how work is going to get done, and probably some analysis of that work when it’s done. 5+ years doing testing and verification in a similar role.
