Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting

Position SummaryThe Manager of Technical Accounting and Reporting will report to the Associate Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting and be responsible for assisting in technical accounting research, ensuring GAAP and SEC reporting requirements are met for significant and/or non-routine transactions, and helping develop and maintain global financial policies and procedures. This position is expected to effectively business partner with other departments, especially the Accounting department. The Manager of Technical Accounting and Reporting will be responsible for having a technical knowledge of SEC reporting (10K, l0Q's, Proxy, etc.), inclusive of working within the NetSuite and Workiva systems and related XBRL tagging.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in managing the preparation of the Company's periodic SEC filings (Form 10-K,10-Q, Proxy, etc.)
  • Primary preparer/reviewer of the 10Q/K document and supporting workpapers

  • Prepare/Review tables, footnotes, face statements, and schedules needed for the 10Q/K and Proxy

  • Lead the preparation, review and presentation of new 10Q/K and Proxy requirements, ensuring appropriate implementation and disclosures.

  • Research disclosure requirements and draft language for all new, unusual or significant accounting transactions.

  • Business partner with other departments to gather the correct information needed to prepare/review the financial statements and schedules.

  • Ensure deadlines are achieved

  • Analyze financial information

  • Ensure XBRL tagging is complete and accurate

  • Work with legal counsel to ensure completeness of exhibits

  • Maintain the Workiva system

  1. Manage the quarterly SEC reporting calendar, including frequent coordination with external auditors, executives finance, legal and investor relations departments.

  2. Preparation/Review of stock-based compensation accounting, earnings per share and other equity accounting analyses, reconciliations and journal entries for month-end close.

  3. Preparation of certain routine and non-routine entries that are technical in nature and draft related memos through enquiry and research.

  4. Review of the quarterly and annual US GAAP disclosure checklist.

  5. Preparation and maintenance of the third-party debt journal entries and checklists, as well as preparation and reconciliation of intercompany debt.

  6. Lead the preparation, review and submission of government census forms.

  7. Development and implementation of finance and accounting policies, as applicable, including coordinating feedback amongst various stakeholders across the organization.

  8. Lead the global lease accounting process, inclusive of: (i) the review of all new and modified leases (ii) monthly contract analysis for lease completeness, (iii) global coordination of monthly lease accounting (iv) maintenance and change management procedures of the Lease Accelerator system (v) preparation and recalculation of the IBR and (vi) maintenance of the global lease standard operating procedures and guidance.

  9. Assist in global system implementations, as needed, inclusive of maintaining necessary procedures and internal controls around the systems.

  10. Research new accounting pronouncements and reporting requirements, recommending accounting positions and disclosures to management.

  11. Assist in the NetSuite global consolidation procedures, ensuring all intercompany balances are eliminated and external financial data is appropriate.

  12. Assist in ensuring the Company's compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley ("SOX") internal control requirements.

  13. Work as a member of the project team to implement process improvements and automation projects, as needed.

  14. Assist with quarterly and annual internal Board of Directors and Audit Committee packages.

  15. Assist with other accounting topics, as needed, such as revenue recognition.

  16. Assist with other ad-hoc projects, as needed.

Requirements

Educational Requirements

· Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting

Professional Work Experience Requirements

· CPA Required

· 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably 2-3 years in technical accounting and research

Experience and Skills

· Big Four experience preferred

· Experience in SEC reporting, technical accounting and research skills

· Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred

· Proficiency with NetSuite and Workiva

· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suite
