Night - 12 Hour (United States of America)

A Brief Overview

The Lead Security Officer assists in ensuring medical center safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations. Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies. The Lead Security Officer writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses and is also responsible for investigating crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations.

Performs dispatch duties when necessary. The Lead Security Officers handles sensitive tasks, is expected to lead officers and to display leadership abilities.

What you will do

  • Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).

  • Conducts safety inspections, responds to code designated incidents and other emergencies.

  • Ensures medical center safety and security during assigned shifts and during emergency situations.

  • Investigates crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations.

  • Writes comprehensive reports detailing causes, actions and responses. Investigates crimes and other incidents and submits related reports and recommendations.

  • Assigns Security Officer Duties throughout the course of operations in accordance with standards established by Security Management

  • Represents Security interests in operational discussions with other deparments

  • Lead Officer Operations: In addition to daily operations role, serves as backup to shift supervisor. Provides field leadership during daily gaps between shifts, including making staffing decisions. Provides coverage for supervisors during PTO/PTS.

  • Lead Officer Investigations: This position will focus solely on investigations and the role will feature training and development in investigation and interview techniques. Provides backup to all officers and management in regards to investigations.

  • Lead Officer Training: This role will be a formal field support leader in training and compliance.

Education Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • Successfully pass the following training within the first six month of hire1. De-escalation2. CPI3. Patient rights and holding4. Psychiatric Security Training5. Handcuffing

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity

  • Ability to generate ideas, consult with departments, and coordinate administrative solutions to alleviate security problems

  • Ability to observe and recall names, places and incidents, read and understand laws, ordinances, departmental rules and policies

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines

  • Ability to relate to others in a calm, tactful and courteous manner

  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions

  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job

  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment

  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility

  • Knowledge of police/law enforcement procedures and techniques

Licenses and Certifications

  • CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State required

  • SGRC - Security Guard Registration Card required within 90 Days or

  • PPSO - California Proprietary Private Security Officer License required within 90 Days

  • Category II - Tasks that involve NO exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $31.21 - $35.14 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
