ICONMA, LLC Inpatient Pharmacy IV Technician in United States

Inpatient Pharmacy IV Technician Location: York, ME Duration: 13 weeks Shift Information: Variable shifts with rotating weekends; 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Description: Must have Maine Pharmacy Technician license. Position summary: Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, this individual will demonstrate advanced technical skills related to unit dose drug distribution, sterile and non-sterile compounding and inventory control. This individual will be compliant with hospital policies and procedures, and be able to interpret and comply with state and Federal regulations. This individual will demonstrate integrity, dependability and the ability to “recognize each individual’s unique contributions to the Client culture”. You will participate in all aspects of drug distribution that do not require the professional judgement of a pharmacist. All duties will be performed in accordance with the goals and objectives of pharmacy administration. Essential duties and responsibilities including but not limited to: Performs independently with respect to all essential technician duties and responsibilities within the department Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients Appropriately utilizes Personal protective Equipment Utilizes aseptic technique during all aspects of compounding process in a timely manner Maintains strict adherence to USP 797 and 800 standards Performs required calculations for drug dilutions and reconstitution Utilizes closed system transfer devices (CSTD’s) during all hazardous medication preparation Properly disposes of all hazardous waste generated during the compounding process Assists in cleaning all controlled environments within the pharmacy area per daily, weekly and monthly requirements Prioritizes daily compounding workload to also complete batched preparations Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers and inventories Perform basic data entry into department automation for pharmacists verification of compounded product Helps to establish, coordinate, and maintain daily work functions; optimizes time efficiently and effectively Resolves workplace crisis and conflict in a calm, constructive and professional manner Places orders for medications and supplies from vendors as needed in the absence of the Purchasing Agent. Assists with the restocking of pharmaceutical products in all areas of the hospital including the automated dispensing machines Conducts nursing unit, pharmacy and off-site QA inspections; ensures 100% department compliance Maintains the quality control standards of the clean room(s) in accordance with USP regulations Maintains records associated with quality control of clean room activities including temperature and pressure logs Demonstrates a commitment to meeting and exceeding the needs of the nursing and medical staff as well as our patients Assists with maintaining a constant state of readiness for CMS, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, DHHS and other regulatory bodies Maintains a clean, neat and professional work area at all times. Maintains focus on medication safety; documents medication errors. Participates in and successfully completes mandatory education and passes the required annual technician competencies. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department. Skills, knowledge and abilities: Must have strong math skills; be able to add, subtract, use ratios and work with fractions. Successful completion of core technician training and subsequent yearly competencies (didactic and hands-on) Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to follow instructions. Demonstrates the ability to maintain knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrates the ability to make critical decisions, prioritize tasks and delegate work in a professional manner. Demonstrates adequate computer skills Minimum qualifications: Education: High School Diploma/GED Licensure, certification, registration: State of Maine Registered Pharmacy Technician License Experience requirements: PTCB National Certification with two years’ experience in a hospital setting Work history that reflects the ability to work in conjunction with pharmacy administration to manage the technical responsibilities of the department.
