Indirect Tax Accountant
The Indirect Tax Accountant works in a team environment to ensure Lithia complies with sales and use tax and similar reporting obligations for its nationwide network of automotive dealerships. All while focusing on process improvement, an increased use of technology and decreasing risk for the Company.
The Indirect Tax Accountant reports to the Indirect Tax Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Prepare multi-state sales and use tax returns, business licenses, and other similar filings
Ensure compliance with state/local sales and use tax laws and regulations
Perform tax research and effectively communicate and document findings, along with your interpretation and recommendations
Support sales and use tax audits
Identify, communicate, and implement process improvement opportunities
Assist with various special projects
Skills and Qualifications
Understanding of tax principals, accounting, and business procedures
Experience in researching and interpreting tax laws and rates
Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency/time management, and excellent communication
Thrives in a fast-paced work environment while managing a variety of responsibilities/priorities
Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel
Data analysis and ability to leverage technology, proficiency in processes and data manipulation
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum one year of tax experience in public accounting and/or private industry
CPA or CMI certified or eligible to become certified, desired
