It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work remotely for three (3) or more days a week and will share a hoteling workspace when working onsite. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

Summary of the Job:

The Head of Credit Risk, Commercial Payments is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to evolving the strategy in the Commercial Payments/Treasury business. This is a critical credit/operational risk leadership role responsible for underwriting and credit review of high dollar (multimillion dollar) commercial payment products primarily on unsecured terms. The role is also responsible for managing the credit risk for other FNBO products in the Commercial Payments business line: ACH, Wires, Global Banking Transactions, Merchant Services. This individual will play a key partner role with the Commercial Payments/Treasury business line and FNNI’s Credit Policy Committee to facilitate growth within FNBO’s long term risk appetite.

About This Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with cross-functional partners, and stakeholders to deliver sustained growth through prudent risk practices.

  • Understand the various types of business within Commercial Payments and integrate in-depth credit operations based on solid understanding of unsecured commercial lending within various industries.

  • Partner with internal and external constituents to complete both complex unsecured credit transactions and transactions with credit enhancements.

  • Understand the Commercial Payments unsecured environment and articulate the value and design of a competitive credit and underwriting practice for the bank and third-party partners.

  • Develop and support an underwriting strategy for non-FNBO banked customers.

  • Develop and implement a best-in-class relationship-based review and approval process for all credit and other loss exposure related to the Commercial Payments business line.

  • Monitor Commercial Payments portfolio quality. Report on relevant portfolio trends to FNBO Credit Leadership and other stakeholders and propose relevant changes in policy, concentration limits, risk rating process, as new internal or external trends emerge.

  • Work with Commercial Payments leadership to ensure negotiated terms and conditions of all loans/exposure secured and unsecured adhere to bank policy.

  • Lead a team of Commercial Payments credit analysts; develop and manage to appropriate standards of performance. Identify gaps in expertise and obtain organizational commitment to hire talent to address deficiencies.

  • Support the business growth, sales and credit activities in the business line.

  • Deliver on Credit and FNBO strategic initiatives.

  • Represent credit risk management at executive and credit committee meetings (FNNI Credit Policy Committee, FNNI Loan Committee, FNNI/FNBO Special Assets Committee)

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant commercial/corporate credit card and virtual card underwriting experience of large, multimillion dollar exposures, required.

  • Deep understanding of the competitive credit risk landscape and ability to translate into FNBO environment.

  • In-depth credit operations knowledge with a solid understanding of unsecured commercial lending within various industries.

  • Knowledge of credit and operational risks in the Commercial Payments business such as: ACH, Wires, preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading change, with a track record of identifying and implementing opportunities to improve business operations and performance.

  • Demonstrated success in working across business lines to drive business decisions.

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree, Masters Degree preferred in finance or economics.
