Essential Functions of the position include the following:

The Grants Manager is a key member of the Finance team at Catholic Charities and serves as the financial liaison for grants and contracts. A primary responsibility of this role is to provide financial and compliance expertise to administrators and financial staff at all stages of the grant process, from pre-award grant proposals to post-award grant administration. In this role, the grant manager will interact regularly with the Director of Revenue, the Accounts Receivable Manager, Legal Department, Impact Area Controllers, and staff.

  • Assumes custodial responsibility for post-award grant contract administration - e.g., monitors grant submissions, grant accounting, and grant compliance.

  • Leads grant cycle process improvement initiatives, ensuring efficient and financial compliance in all areas of grant cycle.

  • Reviews general ledger and subledger grant accounting for accuracy and completeness. Reviews matching requirements and indirect costs associated with grants.

  • Oversees process of setting up new grants and contracts on subledger, posting charges and cash receipts, in coordination with the Accounts Receivable Manager and Impact Area Controllers.

  • Reviews general ledger and subledger grant accounting for accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintains master list of grant reporting due dates, Reviews billing and closeout reports to support financial reporting.

  • Meets routinely with Impact Area Controllers to review active grants, monitors budget to actual activity, and outstanding receivable balances.

  • Informs Director of Revenue Cycle Management of large budget to actual variances prior to performance period end.

  • Assists with annual audit.

  • Assists with the Schedule of Federal Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for the Single Audit and State reporting (e.g., CYEFR (Consolidated Year End Financial Report), IDHS).

  • Communicates effectively and manages relationships with Legal, Finance, and Impact Areas.

  • Stays abreast of federal compliance. Proactively assists team members with financial and compliance issues.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    Relevant Education: Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

    Relevant Experience: Preferred: 3-5 Years: 3-5 years of accounting/finance related experience including grant accounting or audit experience

    Minimum: 3-5 Years: 3-5 years of accounting/finance related experience
