Class Summary

The mission of the Department of Corrections is to promote community safety by maintaining a safe and secure environment that encourages positive change and provides quality services that make a difference.

This class is responsible for supervising Cooks and/or inmates in the preparation of food and the coordination of kitchen activities. This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

The Grade for this position is B211.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.;

  • Three years experience as a Cook;

  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;

  • Food Services Training Certificate (i.e. - ServSafe) - must be obtained within 12 month of employment
