Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to use your education and/or experience in human and family services? Do you want to help strengthen current and future generations by helping families navigate education systems for their young children?

Join an organization which has been providing quality education services through the Head Start and Universal Pre-K models for over 55 years. The Family Engagement Specialist acts as a key liaison for families and helps parents develop their role as their child’s first and ongoing teacher. Responsibilities include:

  • Advocate with families, especially during key transition times such as enrolling students in program, classroom visits, kindergarten enrollment transition, etc.

  • Promote and provide engagement and skill development opportunities for parents

  • Promote regular student attendance, developing plans to support students with low attendance

  • Conduct customer outreach and ongoing recruitment of children to ECE program(s)

  • Work with community partners to connect families with local resources and events

  • Collect data and maintain records

Starting at $20.98 per hour; Monday-Friday 35 hours per week; 44 weeks per year

Position starts mid-August.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field OR a Family Development Credential required. Valid driver’s license required with a means for transportation throughout Albany County. Basic PC skills including database entry, word processing, and spreadsheet skills are required. Bi- or Multi-lingual skills are a plus.
