Engineering - Storage - Product Block and Data Protection Engineer Location: Salt Lake City, UT Duration: 8 months Description: Duties: Your Impact: Our team of engineers builds solutions for the most complex problems. The storage engineering team are responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle, including analysis, evaluation, design, testing, integration and sustained engineering of block storage and data protection products for the firm's enterprise-level storage environment. How you will fulfill your potential: Ability to operate at a global level, communicating and collaborating with the various teams within storage engineering to derive the best solutions for the firm’s enterprise-level storage environment. Driving storage vendors around product improvement and delivery, as part of the firm’s established product development life cycle process, is a crucial part of this role. Ability to work with the storage development team, in the creation of development requirements that will lead to an uplift in the areas of automation, performance management as well as inventory management of the firm’s enterprise-level storage environment Enable cloud journey for our business partners by understanding their storage requirements and providing appropriate solutions in both external and internal cloud. Skills: Basic Qualifications: - Currently working within an enterprise-level storage environment - Experienced in Pure Storage FlashArray block storage products and/or in Rubrik r6000 series data protection products - Experienced in Brocade G series fabric switch products - Capability to follow and deliver Product Development Life Cycle type documentation as part of the product evaluation and certification process - Competent in Windows, Linux/UNIX-like operating systems, I/O and network stack tuning and performance profiling - An understanding how to deliver reliable services out of unreliable components - Familiar with DevOps tools and version control systems (SVN, GitLab) - Familiar with SRE principles such as user journeys, SLI/SLO, and synthetic probers - Strong analytical, problem solving, and trouble shooting skills - Ability to adapt to new technologies Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with engineering and operating a hybrid cloud delivery model with focus on data coherency between on-prem and off-prem components. - Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, Bash or other scripting languages with a focus on testing and sound SDLC practices. - Familiarity with hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, and Azure) - Familiarity with hypervisors (ESX) - Beneficial, but not required, experience in block storage (a Consumer Electronics company, Hitachi), file (Netapp, a Consumer Electronics company Unity), and/or backup solutions (Networker, DataDomain). - Familiarity with Elastic Search and Kibana Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Call Notes : Brocade, Pure storage, Rubrik or any other storage product experience will work - should be strong in one product. We need someone who has product developing experience. Experience in Brocade, Block Storage, Pure Storage Dylan has come across situations where candidates have mentioned specific keywords like, Rubrik r 6000 and if they ask in depth question candidates are not able to explain what they have done, or for what purpose they use it. We need someone who is versatile and can act as a front-line person an individual contributor, meet with vendors, and talk to them and get the work done. (not just reading the document) Product development in storage is required. Manager Feedback : They have interviewed several candidates but none of them are able to articulate product development or knowledge about it, most of the candidates have experience either in installations, configurations, or troubleshooting. We need someone with installations, configurations, troubleshooting of products and product development experience.
