Class Summary
The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources is a publicly owned utility, committed to providing water, water reclamation, and stormwater services at the best possible value to the citizens of Gwinnett County. The department is widely recognized for service excellence in the operation of two water production facilities, two raw water pump stations, 7 finished water storage and booster stations, three water reclamation facilities and 213 pump stations. In addition, DWR maintains 3,800 miles of water lines, 2,800 miles of sewer lines, 280 miles of force main, and 1,500 miles of stormwater pipe. The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledges to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, renewable, resource.
This position is in the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Division. The E&C Division is divided into two distinct groups focused on the delivery of capital projects covering multiple asset classes including Facilities (vertical), Linear and Stormwater.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional engineer to independently manage the organization, execution, and delivery of a wide range of vertical asset projects including water treatment, wastewater reclamation, pump station, and administrative building projects. Additionally, this position will provide technical engineering support to the Facilities E&C Section Manager and Division Director to support leaderships efforts to leverage Facilities E&C resources with greater efficiency and facilitate improved project delivery approach. This position will require the management of multiple Facilities E&C projects including water, wastewater, and pump station projects.
The responsibilities of this position include project management, engineering support during project development, design, bidding, and construction phases, and the management of multiple projects at one or more facilities as the workload requires. This position will also facilitate the drafting of project specific scoping documents with consultants; manage the development of contract documents during the design phase; review and approve invoicing; review, negotiate, and process Change Orders; coordinate with Engineer of Record; and conduct constructability reviews. Projects will vary in size and complexity and may be located at one or more of the facilities described above including ancillary support facilities Scope of projects include Water and Wastewater Capital Improvement Projects, water and sewer enhancements, expansions, rehabilitations, or replacements. This position will require working closely with the pre-construction supervisor and inspection group manager from project initiation to completion. The ideal candidate will poses experience in the planning, design, procurement, construction, and management of water and wastewater systems including excellent problem solving and negotiating skills with the ability to communicate effectively with county management, peers, staff, and occasionally with the public.
The Grade for this position is D61(1).

Minimum Qualifications:
Training and Experience (positions in this class require):
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Four years of progressively responsible engineering experience, some of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
Licensing Requirements:
Valid Driver's License
Professional Engineer License (PE)
