Friends University Director of Physical Plant in United States

Friends University is seeking to fill the Director of Physical Plant position in Wichita Kansas. This position is responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, renovation, and presentation of all university buildings and grounds. This position manages assigned staff engaged in building, equipment, and grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities and Duties;

· Manages the daily operations of facilities including staff, contractors, and vendors.

· Directs contractors including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, elevator, and life safety.

· Provides project review, monitoring and inspection of facility renovation and new construction projects.

· Serves as an essential employee for emergency operations affecting university operations.

· Ensure work order requests are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Over 8 years of professional experience in facilities management and mechanical building trades. 5 plus years of supervisory experience, leading and managing teams.

A two-year college degree with completion of a specialized course at a trade school required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience in developing and managing a substantial budget in a large organization. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety.
