Signature Aviation Director, FBO Maintenance in United States
We are seeking an experienced Director of FBO Maintenance to lead and oversee all aspects of maintenance strategy, safety compliance, operational efficiency, and cost management for our Fixed Base Operations (FBO). This role is responsible for team leadership, regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance, and asset optimization to ensure seamless operations and long-term sustainability.
The ideal candidate will drive performance management, training, and succession planning while ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, inspections, and regulatory audits. They will develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, optimize technology adoption, and minimize equipment downtime across Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Fuel Farms. Additionally, they will play a critical role in budget development, cost control, and environmental compliance, working to enhance sustainability initiatives and operational efficiency.
This position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and vendor management expertise to maintain high performance, improve ROI, and align with long-term capital planning. The Director of FBO Maintenance will collaborate with procurement, oversee vendor contracts, and ensure the effective execution of maintenance programs to support business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the FBO maintenance team, focusing on performance management, succession planning, and workforce development.
Oversee training programs and certifications to ensure technical expertise and regulatory compliance.
Develop and implement inspection and audit programs to maintain compliance with industry regulations.
Align safety protocols with fuel quality control and ensure risk management practices are in place.
Oversee emergency response planning and execution for maintenance-related incidents.
Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) compliance to minimize downtime of GSE and Fuel Farms.
Identify and implement new technologies to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive consistency and compliance.
Lead capital planning efforts to support long-term maintenance strategies and infrastructure development.
Optimize asset utilization to improve ROI and maximize capital planning effectiveness.
Centralize parts and supply management to enhance operational efficiency.
Oversee fuel truck assets and other critical product types, ensuring proper maintenance and oversight.
Develop and execute budget plans, ensuring cost-effective maintenance operations.
Implement cost control measures related to repairs, maintenance, logistics, and storage.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including spill prevention and emission reduction initiatives.
Drive energy-efficient projects to support sustainability goals.
Work closely with procurement teams to conduct vendor evaluations and contract negotiations.
Ensure contract adherence and effective vendor management to maintain high service standards.
Establish and lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to enhance vendor communication and alignment.
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor Degree – Business Management, Aviation focused degrees, Finance, Project Management or equivalent combination of experience and education
7+ years in leadership roles/experience
Additional knowledge and skills:
Proven leadership experience in FBO maintenance, aviation operations, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
Expertise in budget management, cost control strategies, and capital planning.
Experience optimizing asset utilization, vendor relations, and procurement processes.
Familiarity with sustainability initiatives, emission reduction, and energy-efficient technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work cross-functionally.
