Job Description Summary:
The Director, Fabrication and Facility Operations, Texas Semiconductor Institute will be responsible for managing the facility operations for a broad suite of process tools in a semiconductor coupon and wafer research facility to be built. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of processes and tools typically used in the semiconductor industry; including photolithography, thin film deposition, plasma and wet etch, diffusion/thermal, plus post-wafer processing. Expertise with general wafer fab support equipment and facilities required. Familiar with the operation of vacuum pumps, software and hardware control systems, basic electronics, cleanroom mechanical systems and deionized water systems. The facility operations manager is responsible for establishing systems for equipment training, safety, lab operations and maintenance and repairs of equipment. The facility operations manager is also a resource to guide other staff members and research users to understand which process tools are best suited to successfully achieve their research goals.
Responsibilities:- Work with the research director to implement a well-organized facility strategy that ensures safety of users and optimum use of equipment and support staff to help researchers reach their goals.
Maintain overall function and operation of the equipment set.
Ensure that best operations practices are employed for the safety of users, and the proper operation of the process tools and equipment.
Work with the operations business coordinator to order supplies and arrange for purchase and payment of equipment repairs and maintenance.
Guide and assist potential and new users to understand how to achieve best results for their research.
Oversee the training procedures and documentation in the use of equipment.
Review and maintain a suitable network of suppliers to keep the research facility operating in a timely fashion and within budget.

Education and Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Ten years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Knowledge of use and maintenance of digital data.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and cooperatively work with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related science/engineering major.
Experience in process, design, development, or quality engineering, or manufacturing; plus five years more of management in the semiconductor industry, or in a MEMS, fabrication or engineering laboratory environment.
Semiconductor facilities design construction and trades management, operations budgeting, equipment installation, qualification and facilities management.
Coupon and wafer flow-based tracking and priority goal setting for key modules that constitute learning cycles operation constraints (throughput limiters) and suggests opportunities to overcome.
