Position Summary : The Deputy Director, assigned as a Recovery Team Lead, assists the AVP, Recovery with the day-to-day management of the Recovery Unit including but not limited to contract oversight, client management, business development, implementation and development of policy, supervision of assigned staff, and supporting business unit operational and management goals. The Deputy Director also serves as an Engagement Manager, supporting assigned Project Managers and staff, as well as acting as an alternate point of contact for the client, ensuring that assigned staff are fully meeting their needs. The Deputy Director/Engagement Manager monitors all assigned contracts, task orders and invoicing associated as well as associated direct and indirect costs. The Deputy Director/Engagement Manager assists the Senior Project Manager/Project Manager with the management of assigned projects and is responsible for monitoring and ensuring profitability of all work. The Deputy Director/Engagement Manager also represents Tidal Basin during proposal interviews, industry forums, training and conferences. The Deputy Director/Engagement Manager will complete other tasks as assigned by the AVP, Recovery.
Remote work may be considered for candidates who live more than 50 miles from one of our corporate office locations. However, candidates should also be prepared to report onsite to a designated corporate office location if their home residence is within approximately 50 miles. The ability to travel to client locations and deploy for extended periods of time is a requirement of this position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
Assist the Management Consulting Services (MCS) Business Unit (BU) leadership with the administration of all current projects
Assist the MCS Business Unit leadership with Business Development efforts to secure new business for Tidal Basin, to include prospective client outreach, market research, proposal development, and client presentations
Supervise and mentor assigned staff, including monitoring project and other assigned work, conducting performance appraisals, and assisting with professional development.
Act as the engagement manager for assigned projects, maintaining client relationships, ensuring contract compliance, monitoring financial targets, and liaising between client and Tidal Basin staff when necessary
Manage other projects and tasks when assigned by MCS Business Unit leadership
Complete all required compliance training on an annual basis
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of disaster recovery principles and programs, including the FEMA Public Assistance program
Strong knowledge of federal grant regulations and government procurement policy
Proven track record in business development and client relationship management
Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner (oral and written)
Strong Leadership and Team Building skills
Ability to be productive in a fast-paced, multi-dimensional work environment
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Accounting, Finance or related field
5+ years of experience in disaster recovery work with a focus on FEMA Public Assistance Program execution
3+ years of supervisory experience
Previous experience in disaster recovery private sector work is preferred
PMP preferred
CEM or equivalent state certification preferred
