The Building People Database Analyst/Administrator in United States

The Building People are seeking a qualified Database Analyst / Administrator to:

  • Develop and maintain database systems: Design, implement, and manage databases to store, organize, and retrieve data efficiently.

  • Monitor database performance: Regularly analyze database performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary optimizations to ensure optimal system performance.

  • Data analysis and reporting: Extract and analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Generate reports and present findings to stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Data integrity and security: Implement and enforce data security protocols and measures to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Monitor and resolve data quality issues.

  • Database optimization: Identify and execute strategies to improve data storage, retrieval, and query performance. Optimize database structures, indexes, and queries for maximum efficiency.

  • Database maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patches. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Collaboration with stakeholders: Collaborate with various teams, including IT, software development, and business units, to understand their data requirements and provide effective database solutions.

  • Data documentation: Document database structures, processes, and procedures. Develop and maintain data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and other documentation to ensure data understanding and consistency.

  • Data governance and compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant data governance policies, regulations, and industry best practices. Implement data retention policies and procedures.

  • Continuous learning and improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies in database management. Continuously enhance skills and knowledge through training and professional development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.

  • Solid understanding of database optimization techniques and performance tuning.

  • Knowledge of data modeling principles and experience in designing and implementing database schemas.

  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex data-related concepts and insights to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with data governance, data security, and compliance best practices.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Preferred: Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) experience, such as Archibus, TRIRIGA, Nuvolo, ServiceNow WSD, Maximo, and/or FMSystems

Education:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • US Citizenship.

  • Ability to meet Federal & DoD Gov’t security background checks, HSPD-12, Fingerprinting, plus agency-specific screening.

  • 2+ years successfully working from home or remote location, with minimal supervision.

  • Operate within a NIST 800-171 compliant security environment internally and able to support all client-required cyber security data and operational processes. Value and protect company, colleague, and customer data.

  • Operate within a home office environment that provides adequate workspace and high-speed internet connectivity.
