Job Description

General Summary

Direct responsibility for management, including budget, equipment, personnel, and programming for the intramural sports program. Recruits and trains supervisors and other personnel necessary to operate the intramural program. Assists in the overall management of Recreational Sports, it's facilities and programs. Evenings and some weekends required.

10 month tenure

Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates intramural supervisors and officials.

  • Develops goals and objectives on a yearly basis and develops procedures and programs to meet those goals and objectives.

  • Conducts periodic evaluations of operations, personnel, and use of resources.

  • Works with assistant directors in the operation of the Virgil Henson Activities Center.

  • Develops strategies to market and promote programs.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • One year of related experience in recreational sports

  • Requires an understanding of student development theory in context of recreational sports.

  • Excellent, communication and administrative skills, customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred

  • Experience with intramurals and sports clubs in a university setting

  • NIRSA Certifications

  • Computer experience

  • Understands processes of the University
