Job Description
The Department Chair of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical, academic, and research activities within the department. This position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Medicine and works collaboratively with hospital leadership to advance the department’s mission of excellence in patient care, medical education, and innovative research.

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications
· MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
· Board certification in Otolaryngology.
· Current Virginia medical license or eligible for licensure in Virginia.
· Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in otolaryngology.
· Proven track record of academic leadership and administrative experience.
· Strong record of scholarly activity and peer-reviewed publications.
· Experience in managing complex budgets and resources.
· Excellence in teaching and mentoring.
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
Preferred Qualifications
· Active participation in national professional organizations.
· Experience with ACGME requirements and maintaining program accreditation.
· Understanding of academic medical center operations.
· Demonstrated success in faculty recruitment and retention.
· Track record of fostering research programs and securing funding.
· Experience with strategic planning and implementation.
