RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Areas #1: Facility Management
Percent Effort: 40%
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Dugan Wellness Center (DWC), including work areas of gymnasium, equipment checkout, facility reservations, and the outdoor pool operations.
Assists with facility equipment upkeep through preventative maintenance and rotation plans by providing equipment purchase recommendations to the Associate Director & Director.
Oversee the Fusion software package for the department and serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting, training, and configuration.
Budgeting responsibilities include assisting in managing the operational budget for the DWC and directly managing the aquatics program budget.
Oversees pool water testing, chemical supply ordering and storage in coordination with University Facilities staff and facility technician.
Communicates with internal and internal partners for DWC reservations, including securing staffing for set up, tear down and event management
Assists in departmental risk management by coordinating and overseeing certification courses in American Red
Cross CPR/ AED/First Aid and Lifeguarding, ensuring all personnel certifications are filed and coordinatesdepartmental wide training of the Emergency Action Plan.
Functional Areas #2: Personnel Management
Percent Effort: 40%
Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, mentors, evaluates, and manages a future fulltime Events Coordinator, graduate assistant, facility attendants, and lifeguards in compliance with departmental and University regulations.
Directly oversees the certifications and trains First Aid CPR Instructors
Assists in departmental risk management by coordinating and overseeing certification courses in American Red Cross CPR/ AED/First Aid and Lifeguarding, ensuring all personnel certifications are filed and coordinates
departmental wide training of the Emergency Action Plan.
Oversees regular in-service trainings and meetings for facility attendants and lifeguards and ensures staff training is within compliance for operation.
Functional Areas #3: Program Administration
Percent Effort: 20%
Develops and oversees aquatics programming, including the creation and implementation of wellbeing student
focused special events and a youth focused swim lesson program hosted at the Dugan pool.
Assist and lead departmental and university wide special events
Gather participation numbers and demographic information for program enhancement
Prepare, forecast, and monitor program-related budgets
Prepare and submit regular feedback, including quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, participation counts, goal updates and key performance indicators
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required in Recreation or Sports Management or other closely related field.
Six years of related experience.
Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement:
Masters degree and four (4) years of related experience
Experience related to facility/event management and scheduling multiple spaces and programs.
Experience with hiring and supervision of a support staff/team.
Experience developing and implementing recreational aquatics programs with increasing level of responsibility.
Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and conflict management skills.
Knowledge of risk management related to facility operations
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed.
