CNC Software Applications Engineer in United States

Position Overview:

Cimquest, a long-standing Mastercam reseller, is seeking an Applications Engineer to be responsible for providing technical applications support, training, and guidance to customers to solve their manufacturing needs.

The job involves understanding customer requirements, troubleshooting software issues, conducting training sessions, and helping customers optimize their use of Mastercam to improve their manufacturing processes. This role requires a strong background in engineering, CAD/CAM software, and excellent communication skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide advanced support for resellers, partners, customers, as well as internal Mastercam departments and teams.

  • Assist customers with any technical issues related to Mastercam software. This includes troubleshooting, answering queries, and resolving problems.

  • Provide pro-active applications support to customers through on-site visits and applications programming.

Training:

  • Learning Cimquest training methodology and apply to teach Cimquest classes.

  • Assist training team with multi-axis programming using Mastercam, as well as conduct training both internally and externally as needed using Cimquest teaching methodology.

  • Produce presentations, documentation, and training materials with the use of Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Conduct training sessions for users, helping them understand Mastercam’s features and functionalities.

  • Instruct Mastercam training classes.

Post Processor Development:

  • Collaborate with Posts Department to resolve NC code issues, working to modify, customize and improve post processors as needed during issue resolution.

  • Develop, customize, and optimize post processors to ensure seamless communication between Mastercam and CNC machines.

Product Demonstrations:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide Mastercam products demonstrations to prospective customers. Demonstrations may involve creating toolpaths, simulating machining processes, and highlighting unique features.

Competitive Overviews:

  • Compare Mastercam with other competing software solutions.

  • Emphasize Mastercam’s strengths and advantages, helping potential customers make informed decisions.

Customer Service:

  • Discover, research, and report programming defects and requests by customers. Suggest temporary solution(s) until issues/problems are resolved with a permanent solution.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction with Mastercam.

  • Client-centric: takes ownership and pride in customer experience; always professional and pleasant.

Machine Setup and Benchmarking:

  • Assess the customer’s existing CNC machines.

  • Set up Mastercam to work seamlessly with specific machines and perform benchmarking tests to validate performance.

  • Program, run, and maintain all tools for Mastercam.

Documentation and Process Improvement:

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to setups, programs, and tooling information.

  • Continuously improve processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Software Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required.

  • 4+ years of CAM programming experience.

  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM programming software a plus, specifically Mastercam.

  • Possess a general knowledge of all types of CNC manufacturing processes.

  • Experience providing technical support.

  • Experience in a formal teaching/classroom environment.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Ability to communicate in a friendly, direct and helpful manner.

  • Flexible in work schedule/hours to accommodate travel and business cycles.

  • Able to work in a cooperative team environment.

  • Proven ability to multi-task and to manage several projects/tasks at once while projecting a positive outward demeanor.

  • Solid time management skills and a track record of working in a team environment successfully.
