Stanley Black and Decker Application Sales Engineer (ASE) in United States

Basic Purpose and Objectives

Reporting to the Application Sales Engineer (ASE) Manager the Application Sales Engineer will have to assist the sales team in solving customer technical pain points by introducing Stanley Engineered Fastening (SEF) Solutions focused on Plastics area.

With a methodical approach at decision makers in the technical & development departments as well as in production facility He / She will demonstrate the added value of automated SEF auto systems, will provide recommendations to resolve assembly problems (fastening & joining) on cars (BIW – interior – powertrain…) as well as xEV area (battery box – e powertrain)

For achieving his / her goal, He / She will have to work in close relation with the Sales & Product Management Team in taking a crucial role to collect - understand and convert the customer need, VOC (Voice Of Customer) into a tangible SEF Solution. Closed relationship & networking at customers as well as internally will be crucial to achieve his / her goals.

Specific Duties and Key Roles / Responsibilities

Problems solver :

  • Strong knowledge in Automotive Industry with methodical approach,

  • Problem solver at customer side, with most appropriate SEF plastic solutions

  • Lean thinking : reduction of complexity – TCO optimization & Automatization

Business Opportunities provider / Customer Network enabler :

  • Keep active communication & active looking at customers for new product opportunities, ASE is often the 1st SEF representative in the field,

  • Keep watching on market / technology trend & competitors,

  • Collaborating closely with Sales Key Account Manager & Product Management

Project Management involvement:

  • Contribute to internal development procedures at SEF in using internal tools (Sales force / Smart Sheet).

  • Bring VOC (Voice Of Customer) to the internal SEF development team in ensuring customers performances & specifications are achieved.

Education Required

Bachelor's degree (preferably engineering Master degree) or equivalent work experience

Experience Required

5+ years of Technical experience in industry, preferably Automotive / Electrification with an OEM or Large Tier customer – including plastic product portfolio

Desired Skills

Automotive Technical Experience in application development, problem solver.

Effective customer relationship focus, active listener with technical & commercial mindset.

Pugnacity – Curiosity & Resiliency are required.

Efficient interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

This function requires high level of availability & flexibility which may require frequent travels in both SBD Group and European customers.

Mandatory : French / English – Optionnal : German.
