Job Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Promote and oversee the implementation of business unit strategy, making strategic investments in leading digital finance players and ensuring post-investment synergy creations within MUFG’s ecosystem.

  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of Global Commercial Banking (‘‘GCB’’) business with a focus on collaborations with our subsidiaries and affiliate commercial banks (‘‘Partner Banks’’), facilitating corporate banking transactions between MUFG and Partner Banks, particularly Bank Danamon in Indonesia, VietinBank in Vietnam and Security Bank in the Philippines.

  • Create and adjust frameworks to maximize synergy between MUFG and Partner Banks, as well as among Partner Banks.

  • Lead and manage various initiatives related to exploring investment opportunities in digital financial players, executing deals and enhancing post-investment synergies.

  • Establish innovative business collaborations between investees and Partner Banks within MUFG’s ecosystem.

Financials

  • Achieve financial targets for the GCB business unit.

Customer

  • Maintain strong relationship with Partner Banks and existing fintech investees to support their growth and resolve issues, gathering feedback to enhance collaboration.

  • Collaborate with other business units, potential investees and partners to achieve GCB business unit goals, utilizing strong stakeholder skills.

People

  • Develop junior talents by acting as a role model, providing support, coaching and guidance on complex issues.

  • Work with GCB colleagues in Tokyo to address key challenges efficiently and effectively.

Other/Control

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and maintain knowledge of industry trends, products, relevant laws and regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Degree qualified. MBA preferable.

  • At least 15 years of experience in corporate or investment banking with strategic planning and corporate development experience.

  • Proven leadership skills in managing diverse teams to achieve strategic goals.

  • Strong communication skills to influence and convey ideas effectively.

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and leadership.

  • Expertise in business strategy development and framework creation

  • Background in investment and/or corporate banking, including M&A origination, valuation, financial analysis and documentations.

  • Excellent experience in developing strategic partnerships with external parties.

  • Strong analytical ability and logical thinking.

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Japanese (minimum JLPT1 Certification) to communicate effectively with Japanese stakeholders and senior management in Tokyo Head Office.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements from the Japanese Financial Services Agency (JFSA) would be advantageous.
