Liberty Latin America Machine Learning Operations Engineer in Panama

What's The Role

LLA´s Advanced Analytics area is responsible for delivering measurable and actionable value to all the group´s business functions (commercial, finance, operations, networks, etc..) through data and analytics-based enhancements. Those enhancements will be a mix of AI/ML models and operationalized strategies that allow the different areas to improve their decisions and actions.

To achieve this goal, the area needs to have strong Developer Operation methodologies to speed up and automate aspects of the processes of developing, testing, and releasing machine learning models, allowing the continuous delivery of machine learning models and software updates. That permits the organization to address the architectural and information availability challenges existing in a complex multi-market and multi-system telecom company. Therefore, we are looking for a DevOps engineer who will be responsible for building, improving, and maintaining a scalable cloud data architecture, building CI/CD pipelines supported by the effective collaboration between development and operations teams.

What You'll Do

The ideal candidate will have a very strong technical background in cloud architecture and CD/CI pipeline automation, practical experience in GCP or AWS, and will fulfil the following main functions:

• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure.

• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers.

• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes (CD/CI).

• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results.

• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.

• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes.

• Working with developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.

• Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions.

What Do You Need

Preferred education/ qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related technical field.

• Proven education or certifications in data management and cloud.

• Proficient English skills.

Experience:

• 1+ years of proven experience in DevOps engineering.

• Knowledge in one or more programming languages (Python, R, Scala, Java, C/C++ or similar).

• Proficiency in command-line usage and scripting in Linux and Windows OS.

• Docker and cloud container registry.

• Proficient with git and git workflows.

• IaC skills.

Skills & Abilities:

• Advanced English proficiency (verbal and written).

• Knowledge of programming languages.

• Awareness of DevOps and Agile principles.

• strong problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms and security.

• Ability to communicate complicated technical problems to both technical and business audiences.

• Ability to quickly understand business objectives and to recognize and capitalize data driven solutions from it.

• A dynamic, competitive edge to personal style with the ability to assist and sympathize with peers’ and other colleagues’ business circumstances and pressures.

• Have the personal drive and ambition to progress within the organization.
