V2X Technical Inspector (Automotive) in Kuwait

Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of the Material Maintenance Manager & Technical Inspector Lead, performs initial, in-progress and final inspections on various types of military, commercial, and other forms of Automotive equipment. Makes proper classification determinations as it pertains to U.S. Government property. Assists Shops as needed with Troubleshooting processes. Uses proper Test Measurement and Diagnostics Equipment (TMDE) in the daily operations phase. Conducts Actual Cost of Damages (ACOD), Estimated Cost of Damages (ECOD), and Estimated Cost of Repairs (ECOR). Conduct Tests on Serviced, Repaired and Overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency before returning to customer. Understands the automotive repair shop equipment and functions in order to provide assistance and coverage whenever needed. Perform technical research and ensure operational readiness of assigned equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial, in-progress, classification and final inspections.

  • Utilize Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A), DOD CAC access required.

  • Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot defects.

  • Use technical manuals, bulletins and written directives in the performance of all inspections.

  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.

  • Order required repair parts using appropriate military or COTS technical manuals.

  • Perform battlefield damage assessment and repair (BDAR).

  • Classifies equipment for disposal IAW Army regulations and verify equipment condition codes.

  • Perform testing and certification of equipment and material during Load Testing Process.

  • Perform PDQR process when receiving improper or damaged repair parts.

  • Perform load testing of various equipment IAW applicable technical reference.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Suggests improvements to processes and have the capability of writing or rewriting process improvements as needed.

Qualifications

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

  • Requires civilian trade qualification or US Army/Air Force/USMC Wheel Mechanic or equivalent (DD214 required).

  • A valid US Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait Driver’s License are required.

  • Experience:

  • A minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in Automotive Repair, Shop operations or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Technical Inspector is required.

  • Skills:

  • Must possess the technical skills to identify different repair requirements as it pertains to Automotive Equipment.

  • Must have expert knowledge of Technical and Commercial manuals for Servicing, Operational and Repair so that the correct procedures are used on the proper equipment.

  • Must be an expert in Corrective Actions performed by the Maintenance Teams and only ensure that equipment is FMC when cleared by the shops

  • Must have full knowledge of TMDE and its proper usage.

  • Must be proficient in how the repair parts system works and what to do when it doesn’t work correctly.

  • Must be proficient in all phases of the paperwork that pertains to the Services, maintenance, repairs, classification and etc.

  • Must have expert knowledge of the maintenance prints so as to be able to establish workload priority.

  • Must have expert knowledge of Load Test procedures and processes.

  • Must have expert knowledge of equipment operations as it is critical to working as a master driver for that shop.

  • Ability to inspect check and test all types of automotive equipment.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the Army Corrosion Prevention program.

  • Must be Knowledgeable of the Army Maintenance Management Systems (TAMMS)

  • Physical Requirements

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

  • The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
