Vectrus Fire Chief in Iraq

Overview

This position is physically located in Iraq in support of LOGCAP

Under the supervision of the Emergency Manager, i s responsible for Fire Station daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice. Selects and guides firefighters to perform as expected when called upon and will continually assess their readiness and performance. Maintains daily awareness of fire inspections, fire services, inspection and testing of fire protection and alarm systems, firefighter training, and fire drills. Completes the requirements in the PWS and IAW DoD regulations. Submits all fire and rescue incident data using Fire Incident Reporting System (FIRS) software, which allows for automatic reporting, posting information on our website. This allows 24/7 Government oversight and assists in controlling and scheduling all fire safety inspections, as well as posting fire detection and alarm system operational status, fire discrepancy reports, and daily manning summaries.

  • Selects and guides firefighters to perform as expected when called upon and will continually assess their readiness and performance

  • Maintains daily awareness of fire inspections, fire services, inspection and testing of fire protection and alarm systems, firefighter training, and fire drills

  • Completes the requirements in the PWS and IAW DoD regulations

  • Submits all fire and rescue incident data using Fire Incident Reporting System (FIRS) software

  • Responsible for Fire Station daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (i.e. Fire Management, etc.) preferred

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)

  • In-depth knowledge of DOD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program (DODI 6055.06-M) and AS 420-1

  • Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have an active secret clearance.

  • Certification Requirements:

  • Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Incident Commander

  • Required to have IFSAC or Pro-Board certification

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a supervisor position

  • Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program (DODI 6055.06)

  • In-depth knowledge of AR 420-1 and NFPA

  • Must have experience directing firefighting operations to include fighting aircraft and structural fires, performing rescue services, and responding to hazardous materials incidents, medical emergencies, and confined space rescues.

  • Knowledge of the chemistry of fire, preventive maintenance and operations of firefighting and rescue equipment, physical and chemical properties of combustible materials and building structures and their component systems.

  • Experienced in managing fire prevention and protection plans and programs.

  • Directs activities and personnel, transmitting instructions to Assistant Chiefs on the scene or other personnel as to the procedures to be followed contingent on complexity of the incident type.

  • Must also have experience at management of self-inspection and compliance measurement programs

  • Knowledge and experience with managing diverse department

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Fire Station daily operations to ensure personnel are well-trained and capable to perform their duties effectively and on short notice.

  • Selects and guides firefighters to perform as expected when called upon and will continually assess their readiness and performance.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the

  • winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
