What Data Governance contributes to Cardinal Health

Data Governance is responsible for the disciplined execution of governance programs and practices

across all data.

  • Applies knowledge and ability to define and/or operate against the vision/strategy of data and governance.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of data governance modeling, tools, and practices.

  • Identifies and manages data quality in alignment with the needs of the business and/or industry.

  • Ensures complete protection of data with all policies as it relates to visibility and distribution.

  • Identifies and communicates insights and potential upstream/downstream impacts and opportunities to

  • customers, business and/or enterprise leaders

  • Exemplifies effective communication and change management skills to varying audience.

Accountabilities in this role

Data Quality Advisor will be part of the Digital Solutions Organization and function as data

analytics professional responsible for advancing and maturing data quality capabilities in the Enterprise Data team as well partnership with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and other stakeholders to:

  • Act as subject matter expert for the Data Quality technology solution. Partner with external and internal technical teams to maintain and enhance the solution.

  • Perform Data Quality use-case execution. Gather rule requirements. Convert business rules to data quality rules.

  • Build workflows and have expertise in Database Structures.

  • Communicate with Data Stewards, Business SME’s, and technical teams to gather requirements.

  • Capture and maintain documentation of work processes and SOPs.

  • Capture and maintain documentation of use-cases and custom analytical solutions.

  • Mentor junior colleagues.

  • Track and manage Data Quality and Remediation projects in enterprise work management tools.

  • Use knowledge of business objectives and pain points to identify opportunities where data quality can be improved.

  • Prepare and analyze data. This can include locating, profiling, cleansing, extracting, mapping, importing, transforming, validating, or modeling.

  • Interpret results of analyses, identifies trends and issues, and develop recommendations to support business objectives.

  • Understand Data Governance best practices and processes. Partner with Stewards, business SMEs, and data owners to establish a foundation of trusted data.

  • Perform validation and testing to confirm the accuracy of rules and reports.

  • Communicate complex information so that it is easy to understand and action.

  • Implement and maintain decision support or master data management solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 6+ years experience in related field preferred.

  • 5+ years Data Base Structure, ETL, SQL experience required.

  • Experience developing creative and innovative analytical insights preferred.

  • Strong communication skills required.

  • Ability to collect, synthesize, and interpret information from multiple sources and provide easy to understand recommendations.

  • Experience in Data Governance and Quality Technologies (Informatica, SAP, Collibra, others) preferred.

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Console, Big

Query) preferred.

  • Experience with data engineering and analysis leveraging data analytics tools (Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI or similar) and Scripting Languages (Python, SQL, etc.) required.

  • Experience with Agile, DevSecOps, and continuous delivery preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Cardinal Heath business processes and systems preferred.

  • Presentation and planning skills required.
