The Hong Kong Corporate Actuarial acts as financial management hub, providing professional advices and services to senior management in the state-of-the-art actuarial areas across IFRS17 valuation reporting and analysis, Hong Kong RBC capital valuation and management, business planning and forecasting, participating business and reinsurance management, as well as statutory financial reporting duties to the regulators.

Reporting to the Hong Kong Chief Actuary, this role is heading the Chief Actuary’s office, accountable for leading the statutory reporting, reinsurance management, and actuarial project. He or she will also be a member of the senior actuaries leadership team.

We are looking for someone with:

  • University Degree holder

  • Professional actuarial qualifications.

  • At minimum 10 years’ experience in insurance relevant industry.

  • Solid actuarial knowledge and experience in valuation and financial reporting.

  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong project management skills, being able to drive things forward

  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills

  • Team leader who good at coaching and inspiring people

  • Able to manage to work flexibly under dynamic business environment

  • Effective command of English, both spoken and written

  • Experience in Hong Kong statutory reporting an asset, yet not a must

  • Experience in AXIS actuarial modeling an asset, yet not a must

On the job you will:

  • Lead regular reporting in compliance with statutory requirements from regulatory bodies such as Hong Kong Insurance Authority (HKIA), the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM), the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), and others.

  • Lead reinsurance matters including new treaties review, monitoring, amendment, and recapture. He or she also run the Hong Kong reinsurance management taskforce.

  • Lead projects that emerge to support the business growth through provision of financial analysis, as well as other actuarial projects for financial and processes optimization.

  • The Chief Actuary’s office also provides support and opinions in actuarial governance and approval such as new product launch, experience studies and assumption settings, and others.

  • Represent and support Chief Actuary (who also served as Appointed Actuary) in regulatory contact and relationship, discussion with reinsurance counterparties, and other internal stakeholders.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to junior actuaries in the team.

  • Champion valuation and reporting processes improvement and efficiency.
