Job Description
Oracle’s Retail Cloud Team is focused on maximizing service reliability for our retail product service offerings across global Oracle data centres. Our team runs with a start-up like approach, leaving room for creative freedom. We have worked to assemble the smartest people in the industry to build and grow this revolutionary and disruptive team.
We are looking to add new members to this dynamic team and are seeking subject matter experts for designing and continuously improving reliability for Oracle Database components within current our solution portfolio, while aiding the move of some legacy components to Autonomous.
SREs are a rare mix of sysadmins, development Engineers and Database Administrators and as such can understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on the ability to run as distributed systems. They are driven by professional curiosity and a desire to develop deep understanding of their services and the technologies they depend upon.
As a SRE Database Administrator you will utilize your RDBMS expertise in areas such as architecture, design, operational readiness, best practices adoption, continuous improvement of Database reliability & performance, high availability & HAA design and deployments, Critical production troubleshooting etc

Responsibilities
As a member of the SRE organisation, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Manage database reliability and performance aspects for retail product service offerings from within the SRE team as well as work on shipping solutions with the product.
Own the migration of solutions and services from competitor cloud solutions to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Analyze, document solutions and implement best practices for our reatil product service offerings Oracle database solutions.
Work on observability of relevant database metrics and ensure we have excellent insight to how our application is performing.
Work with peer SREs to roll out changes to our production environment and help mitigate database-related production incidents.
Provide database expertise to engineering teams (for example through reviews of database migrations, queries and performance optimizations).
Database performance engineering and testing.
Ideal Qualification/ Experience
BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
Ability to provide senior-level technical support on solving complex issues requiring rapid resolution related to Oracle RDBMS/NoSQL/ATP/ADW/ADB solutions.
Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools and practices, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
Knowledge and experience of Monitoring and Observability pipeline and Observability enabling tools (Prometheous, Grafana, Thanos, ELK, Datadog etc)
Ability to convert conceptual architectures into functional applications and infrastructures end to end.
Ability and experience mapping stakeholder needs into functional requirements.
Strong ability to anticipate emergence at scale in complex systems.
Experience with automation/configuration management using either Terraform/Puppet/Chef or an equivalent
Methodical approach to troubleshooting complex problems
Defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products
Most importantly, the aptitude to be a good team player and the willingness to learn and implement new Cloud technologies
Minimum 8 years of hand on experience in administering Enterprise High Availability, multi-tenant Oracle RAC RDBMS environments.
Expert knowledge into daily administration activities
Experience with Datapump Export/Import, Database migration/cloning, RMAN, Data Guard replication, Golden Gate replication/ GG HUB, ODI, backup/restore, tuning, SQL profiling upgrades, capacity planning and access control.
Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database
Deep understanding and experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Engineered Systems Platform is a must.
Proficient with automation of maintenance tasks using PL/SQL and scripting tools such as shell script, Perl or Python etc
