Amazon Finance Manager, Project Kuiper (Global Procurement Finance) in Virtual, District Of Columbia

Are you ready to get in on the ground floor of Kuiper Systems, Amazon’s long-term initiative to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world?

It’s Day 1 for Amazon’s next billion-dollar business and we are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Finance Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology and information systems, who thinks/acts globally, and has the ability to create and implement solutions.

Project Kuiper seeks a Finance Manager to support various teams across Kuiper’s supply chain. This position will partner with business leaders to design program strategy through thoughtful analysis, develop key financial processes, and support automation initiatives. The successful candidate will need to be strategic, analytical, and have the demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for business effectiveness, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, and identify high priority projects to maximize results for key stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create effective business partnerships, manages competing priorities, and provides investment guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events.

  • Present financial summaries and business insights to Senior Management (Business and Finance).

  • Develop and implement long range business planning.

  • Develop financial models for new business concepts and resulting financial impact to help drive data driven decision making.

  • Build out and enhance P&L models for new and existing businesses, develop business insights and KPI dashboards, and lead ad hoc analyses.

  • Work with big data and transforming it into insights and information.

  • Lead automation efforts of critical processes.

  • Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.

  • Participate in Finance initiatives, including but not limited to process improvements, ad hoc analyses, and preparation of periodic reporting activities.

  • Contribute to work life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

  • Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

  • Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel

  • Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
