Study Group Business Tutor in Manama, Bahrain

Contract type: Full-Time, fixed-term 12-month contract 

Location: Manama, Bahrain (on-site position)

As the sole pathway provider for the Bahrain campus of one of our university partners, from September 2024 we will be teaching and supporting students of undergraduate foundation programmes.

 

The ISC in Bahrain are looking to expand their business team with a Business tutor who can teach Business subjects and or Management Science. A Business tutor who can teach Finance will also be of interest. Reporting to the Head of Business you will be responsible for the delivery and development of modules in the Business and Finance area Economics and Econometrics area for Pre-Master’s and Undergraduate level teaching. 

This is an on-site teaching position, and all tutors are required to teach in person

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the ISC.

  • Prepare and deliver teaching on Standard, Blended Delivery and Online programmes including synchronous and asynchronous input for pre-recorded lectures, weekly tasks, live input, seminars, and tutorial sessions, drop-ins  up to 25 hours per week.

  • Write and prepare module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.

  • Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.

  • Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions,

  • Develop and maintain module VLE pages for Blended Delivery,  Online Delivery (PMP) and if necessary Standard Delivery

  • Work with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes.

  • Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate on-going welfare and progression support.

  • Track students’ academic journey, and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support on-going learning.

  • Act as a Personal Tutor/ Learning Development tutor for one or more groups of students if required

  • Take part in bi-termly Learning conversations with students offering progression and engagement guidance and support

  • Follow centre protocol and liaise with colleagues and line manager according to procedure in particular regarding compliance processes such as class timetabling, attendance and engagement monitoring

ABOUT YOU

  •  Experience of or a commitment to working with international students and have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Business related subject area with a minimum of a Master’s degree.

  • Relevant Teaching Qualification (or be in the process of achieving this) ( experience maybe used as an accepted alternative)

  • Fluent spoken and written English.

  • Experience of teaching business, economics and econometrics modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, and a teaching qualification and experience of working with international students at PG level with some UG
