Parsons Corporation Marine Project Engineer in United Arab Emirates

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Marine Project Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to tackle dynamic engineering challenges on a civil marine engineering mega-project with a highly professional construction supervision team.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designs different coastal structures such as breakwaters, revetments, seawalls and quay walls including the preparation of design conditions, preliminary design and detailed design.

  • Reviews and comments on drawings and specification of materials.

  • Designs and lays out complete systems and components of a Company project with all related facilities, including design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents. Utilizes good judgment and prior experience, anticipates problems at the outset, and provides solutions.

  • Reviews and comments on contractor means and methods, reviews their method statements, risk assessments and ensures work is done in a safe and effective manner.

  • Provides for compliance with items such as specifications, tolerances, safety factors and requirements of client.

  • Performs specialized design computations and analysis within a given discipline.

  • Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the civil discipline such as steel erection, earthworks, piling and concrete.

  • Establish a civil design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including agreement on civil engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.

  • Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for civil discipline.

  • Review and comment on the civil marine criteria for construction of temporary and permanent facilities as required. (MSRA/Materials, Planning, sequencing of works etc.)

  • Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct civil materials.

  • Coordinate and monitor the interfaces for civil marine data exchange to support the construction plan and the project controls program requirements. Coordinate with project stakeholders and contractors to plan/support construction schedules.

  • Develop and manage the civil marine construction quality program utilizing company standards alongside the Quality Manager. Direct preparation of cost estimates for civil construction activities and coordinate the preparation of progress reports.

  • Plan and recommend civil marine procedures to be implemented by the contractor to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.

  • Work with client staff and operating personnel to coordinate civil marine construction activities.

  • Coordinate contractor activities to ensure civil materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.

  • Implement controls over variables affecting civil marine installation job progress such as steel erection, quay wall installation and platework receipt. Also ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and that other corporate programs are fully utilized. Administer major subcontract changes regarding the civil discipline and represent the company in major contractual discussions and negotiations.

  • May serve as a Unit Leader on a project, ensuring compliance with industry codes, project, and Company standards.

  • Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordinating data to ensure a compatible design.

  • May give lead direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring the mathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.

  • Understands and applies company commonly used design standards and methods. Helps establish or revise guidelines, as appropriate.

  • Prepares manpower estimates.

  • Coordinates with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure quality of design.

  • Reviews supplier data as required. Reads supplier/manufacturer drawings.

  • Checks orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others. performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  • Completes additional duties as assigned.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience

  • Have a working knowledge of structural construction operations, construction surveying, marine surveying, excavation and backfill operations, pile/foundation installation, beach formation, rock revetment, quay wall, work in and around water and concrete installation.

  • Technical knowledge of drainage on infrastructure projects, including open-cut excavation, trenching, grading, and general construction work in and around sensitive watercourses.

  • Knowledge of construction technologies.

  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.

  • Familiarity with current industry quality standards.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.

  • 3 years’ experience in the MENA region

  • Knowledge of Dredging Operations

  • Piling Installation experience including driven concrete piles, pipe piles, sheet piles, and combi wall structures

  • Stockpile management and onsite trucking management experience

  • Mass excavation and Backfill Experience

  • Soil Stabilization and Solidification experience

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Extensive knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities

  • Experience of roadway construction, bridge construction, piling/foundation installation and marine construction

  • Extensive understanding of production management including scheduling

  • Sound communication skills

  • Sound interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Knowledge of cost management including estimating/forecast development

  • Experience in Civil construction on large projects in the Marine Environment

  • Previous Supervisory Experience in the Civil Discipline
