Robert Half Staff Accountant in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Description

We are in the real estate industry, with a focus on property and facilities management, and are based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We are seeking a Staff Accountant to manage our portfolio of commercial real estate assets such as office buildings and retail spaces. This role involves supporting the accounting functions related to property acquisition, disposition, and ongoing financial management.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the management of our portfolio of properties, including office buildings and retail spaces

• Support the accounting functions related to property acquisition, disposition, and ongoing financial management

• Collaborate with property managers and leasing teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis

• Manage lease documentation and ensure compliance with lease terms and conditions

• Assist in the calculation and processing of rent, CAM (Common Area Maintenance) charges, and other tenant-related expenses

• Work closely with leasing agents to reconcile lease information and resolve discrepancies

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for property owners and stakeholders

• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes for individual properties and the overall portfolio

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement

• Support the preparation and filing of income tax returns for the company and its related entities

• Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations

• Assist in tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency and minimize liabilities

• Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, Microsoft Excel, and Real Estate Accounting.

Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, and Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Knowledge of Real Estate Accounting practices

• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced real estate environment

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

• No minimum years of experience required; open to entry-level candidates with relevant educational background.
