Navy Exchange Services (NEX) ASSOCIATE GRAPHIC DESIGNER in VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia

Title: ASSOCIATE GRAPHIC DESIGNER Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 240002BJ Job Summary: The position is responsible for creating creative and engaging content from various assets, resulting in successful customer engagement. Implementing through assigned NEXCOM system-wide programs consisting of but not limited to catalogs, circulars, presentations, e-mail, social media blogs, web design, and paid-for-use media. Duties and Responsibilities: - Uses Adobe Creative Suite software to create engaging and creative content including but not limited to catalogs, circulars, flyers, e-mail, social media, blogs, web design, video, internal presentations, in-store signage, or other special programs in accordance with instructions and directions from Creative supervision within NEXCOM marketing or other higher graded NEXCOM marketing associates. - Works under the general supervision of an assigned Senior Designer, Creative Manager, and/or higher-graded marketing specialists who make assignments verbally or in writing. Refers unusual or complex problems to supervisor for resolution. Completed work is reviewed regarding the quality of results and adherence to production dates. Work is reviewed in terms of the objectives met in accordance with the management by objectives program. - Develops, conceptualizes, and executes projects through engagement at various meetings and/or other marketing meetings or from marketing supervision. Works with various NEXCOM associates and designers to ensure an exciting customer experience that leads to better results. Developing several concepts within a project may be required to ensure brand consistency, meet set business objectives, or improve customer experience. - Reviews related input data for concept/proposal/execution. Responsible for the delivery accuracy of all developed media, including all necessary applications of developed content. Completes all necessary design related to customer-facing and/or internal media requirements. Checks with other related/available data such as pagination, promo schedule, Weekly Style Guides, or other means to ensure delivery accuracy. - Uses notes from various meetings, such as INTENT docs, promotional schedules, Weekly Style Guides, suggested layouts, details culled from actual merchandise, or direction from higher-graded marketing associates, to create creative and engaging content. - Uses Adobe Creative Suite software or other applicable software to develop content for NEXCOM-approved media for review of thematic application, overall accuracy, and brand consistency. - Will assist Graphic Designer(s) on photographic shoots to ensure consistency and compliance with NEXCOM brand standards and creative content, including understanding the creativity necessary to foster an emotional connection to NEXCOM customers. - Reviews proofs of various content for thematic clarity, consistency, and accuracy. - Ability to apply applicable skill application and knowledge such as but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Flash as necessary. - Travel is a requirement of this position. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Incumbent may progress non-competitively to the Graphic Designer position, NF-04 (SC 405/ PD#2717), upon completing qualification requirements/training. The training period is expected to be approximately one year; the incumbent may not advance to a higher Graphic Designer grade level with less than six months of experience in the current position. Qualifications: A total of 4 years of experience, consisting of the following: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in professional, technical or other design and creative work involving graphic design, web development or video production with Macintosh computer which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of techniques and methods for developing marketing content. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of academic study above the highest school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience, up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year of experience in graphic design, web development or video production with Macintosh computer systems. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Photoshop. Skills in development and implementation of various types of advertising promotional and marketing media both digital and print. Job: Advertising/Marketing
