Job Purpose and Impact

The Global Fermentation Leader will help identify, set and drive strategic direction across their global research team. In this role, you will collaborate with key partners, internally and externally, to drive and support business objectives and growth strategies through research and technologies and complete the work through your team by developing and nurturing a strong leadership team that has the capabilities to execute and support the research and technology needs of the business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with business leaders and customers to identify opportunities to leverage emerging research and technology innovations as well as to identify areas for future business growth.

  • Develop and align strategic research plans and priorities across research teams and businesses to create consistencies and efficiencies, aligning with a "One Research and Development" approach.

  • Ensure programs, processes and control mechanisms comply with laws, regulations and company policies.

  • Build strong functional working relationships, in collaboration with internal and external leading academics, institutes and companies to influence and drive areas of research as well as anticipate trends.

  • Create and maintain the budget and expenses for the research team, align resources to deliver on strategic plans and develop programs that create operating efficiencies.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Provide strategic leadership, development and talent management activities for direct reports and their organizations, which may include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, five years of supervisory experience

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a related chemistry, bioscience or food science field

  • Demonstrated success turning scientific research/solutions into business opportunities

  • Experience managing and developing high performing teams and leading change in a global matrix organization.

  • Experience leading the development of a network of external alliances with potential partners and prominent research organizations.

  • Customer facing experience

  • Expertise and experience in fermentation

  • Experience in ingredient chemistry, material science and/or human nutrition.
