We seek a candidate whose research, teaching and/or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and who are willing to support the University's strategic plan of Inclusive Community. The appointment will be effective in Fall 2025. Review of applications is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled. Potential candidates should have a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in computer science or a closely related field. The Department is committed to both scholarly research and teaching. It offers a bachelor's degree in computer science along with master's degree programs in computer science and software engineering. It also offers several certificate programs at all levels. Among its faculty members are successful scholars in theory of computation, natural language processing, computer vision, virtual reality, computational geometry, graph theory, and machine learning. The Department is active in interdisciplinary research into sustainability, cyber-physical systems security, health IT, and software accessibility. Our faculty members collaborate closely with the Center of Excellence in Enterprise Technology, which uses a large CAVE for research in virtual reality. The Department is a member of the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Academic Alliance. As it grows a culture of inclusivity, the Department collaborates closely with the McNulty Institute for Women's Leadership, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the Villanova Initiative to Support Inclusiveness and Build Leaders (VISIBLE) program, which is actively and successfully addressing diversity, equity and inclusion issues across faculty, staff, and students at all levels. Teaching duties include a 2-2 teaching load for the first year and a 3-2 load in years 2 and 3, which typically requires at most two course preparations per semester. After a successful Third Year Review, a one-semester sabbatical at full pay is available in the fourth year and the 3-2 teaching load may be continued for another three years, contingent on a successful and promising record of scholarship. * PhD in CS or a closely related field is required as well as outstanding research potential and excellence in teaching. * Candidates for the position should pursue an active research agenda leading to high quality publications. * Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Strong candidates from all areas will be considered. * The Department is also interested in candidates who will support our efforts in interdisciplinary teaching and research. * Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and/or work environment.
