News Corp Australia Senior Reporter The Weekly Times in VIC, Australia

What’s the role?

The Weekly Times, the biggest news masthead for rural and regional Australia, is looking for a reporter with the skill set to produce multiple types of content across print and digital platforms. The role includes working closely with the editorial team to produce engaging news and feature content for our growing audience. You are a people person who can help build internal and external stakeholder relationships. Above all, you are a team player and self-starter who is passionate about journalism and confident in digital publishing.

About the role:

  • We’re seeking an editorial gun to join The Weekly Times based out of our head office in Melbourne’s Southbank.

  • Producing engaging content for The Weekly Times, including news and features.

  • Building stories for digital platforms using SEO best practice

  • The ability to write on a range of topics relevant to rural and regional communities and businesses

  • Pitching fresh and relevant story ideas that reflect an understanding of The Weekly Times brand and readership

  • Managing multiple deadlines for a range of projects from one-off articles to longer campaigns.

Who are you?

  • Previous experience in the digital publishing industry is ideal

  • Excellent editorial and writing abilities

  • Strong stakeholder skills

  • Understanding of rural industries and issues

  • A talented multi-tasker that can easily prioritise workload and project work
