The Doe Run Company is seeking a Chemical Technician to prepare, analyze and report on sample results from production or environmental with quality analysis to support the operations, customer, and environmental standards. This position is located at our Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, run and report on production samples collected from operations or environmental following standard methods for sample preparation and analysis.
  • Calibrate and set-up the lab instruments according to ICP and certified standards.
  • Prepare, run and report on production samples by analyzing samples from production work areas and testing for elemental content.
  • Guarantee final analysis of samples meets quality standards (may be relevant customer specifications).
  • Maintaining data and assays on all production samples, including environmental samples with TCLP procedures.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner following EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) policies, procedures, and best practices: support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner: report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations: and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Databases, I-Series, and PeopleSoft.
  • Basic knowledge of quality control standards.
  • Basic organization skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience utilizing lab equipment; as a chemist or chemical technician preferred.
  • Lab equipment experience with basic understanding of sample prep and analysis procedures preferred.
  • Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use a computer and phone. Frequently required to use non powered hand tools. Occasionally required to use powered hand tools.
  • Frequently required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator, hearing protection, foot protection and eyewear, and work near moving mechanical parts;occasionally exposed to extreme heat/cold (non-weather), wet humid (non-weather) and outdoor conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Regularly requires standing, walking, reaching with hands/arms, and repetitive movement; occasionally requires grasping and pushing, feeling attributes of objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to dentify and distinguish colors.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 5 pounds; frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds; rarely required to lift up to 100 pounds.
