Job Summary:

Reporting to the Finance Manager for the Smurfit Westrock Tczew Plant, this role will assist the Finance function for the Smurfit Westrock Peremarton facility, supporting & guiding the existing local organization in compliance with company policies, local and USGAAP Accounting objectives, and support with transactional Activities such as Accounts Payable & Receivable.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

• Perform reconciliation of various data, financial record keeping.

• Support period-end close activities in accordance with agreed close schedules.

• Support compliance with accounting standards and control frameworks.

• Support the monthly closing cycles according to corporate deadlines and in close collaboration with key finance stakeholders.

• Ensure a robust internal control and risk mindset, and ensure policies and controls are implemented and compliant.

• VAT & Tax Calculations/ Filings:

• Responsibility over the compulsory and timely preparation of tax returns (CIT, VAT, withholding tax, local taxes, etc.).

• Cooperation with tax authorities and their service during tax audits.

• Cooperation with employees in all tax issues, transfer prices, etc.

• Responsibility for cooperation with external tax consultants.

• Preparation & submission of annual reports:

• Responsibility for the statutory financial statements and cooperation with external auditors, other company reporting resulting from applicable regulations (ie. Statistics).

• Assist with reviewing, ensuring, and developing internal SOX controls & processes.

• Support with fixed asset reporting, & transactional activities related to Accounts payable & receivable.

• Impacts work according to detailed instructions related to current tasks given by the employer and supervisor.

What you need to succeed:

• Completed degree in accounting (or equivalent), five or more years of professional accounting experience preferred.

• Certified Accountant (ACCA or similar) qualification preferred.

• Excellent knowledge in the area of Hungarian accounting.

• Proactive, hardworking and someone who can build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Demonstratable experience of excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

• Continuous improvement mindset to function as a driver for change, development & efficiency improvements.

• Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

• Proficient in MS Packages including competent in Microsoft Excel.

• Flexible individual willing to take on tasks outside the list above and taking ownership of all assigned tasks.

• Knowledge of the use of the SAP FI module and ERP systems preferred.

• Fluent English and Hungarian required.
