UINTAH CARE CENTER Golden Age Center Director in VERNAL, Utah

The Director will oversee and administer the Alternatives and Caregiver programs that promote healthy and secure lifestyles for Uintah County's growing senior population. By working with the State Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) and other interested parties in the aging network. The Director also oversees the day to day operations and must have strong assertive leadership skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•         Reports to the District Executive Director.

•         Responsible for leading and managing activities at the senior center including technical duties related to planning and organizing daily operations.

•         Communicates with employees, volunteers, clients and public.

•         Ensures that District policies are followed with consistent staff training.

•         Work with the Executive Director, Maintenance Director and County Grant Administrator to secure grants.

•         Work with the Executive Director to oversee financial functions to provide for programming needs.

•         Ensure that services meet the community's senior needs.

•         Ensure that emergency plans are developed and followed.

•         Develop, administer and monitor Area Plan and Budget.

•         Act as community advocate in proposing programs and issues of importance for the elderly.

•         Administer the Congregate and Home Delivered meals program.

•         Work closely with Utah State Division of Aging, Department of Human Services and the Department of Health.

•         Meet monthly with Utah Association of Area Agency on Aging Directors to keep updated and current with information associated with duties of the Director.

•         Work closely with local Adult Protective Services and Mental Health programs in assuring protection for elderly clients who may be victims of abuse and exploitation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•         Must enjoy working with the elderly population.

•         Must have strong/assertive and positive leadership skills with staff supervisory experience.

•         Be able to communicate effectively with the public and staff.

•         Good computer skills which include word processing and spread sheet programs.

•         Possess a valid Utah driver's license.

•         Financial and accounting skills.

•         Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
