We are seeking a Software Engineering Co-op (Spring/Summer) to support the Test Equipment Engineering team for aerospace products and systems. The role will be focused on the design, documentation, integration, and support of LabVIEW based automated test equipment for aerospace products and systems. Our standard test equipment hardware solutions are National Instruments PXI, cRIO, and LabVIEW based.

The candidate will ensure that test equipment software design and implementation meets product testing requirements and is responsible for meeting cost and schedule targets for their tasks. This role will be responsible to develop software applications for a variety of end products in a small team environment focused on utilizing, building, and maintaining a reusable LabVIEW software code base. A candidate for this position must have a strong desire and ability to learn the LabVIEW language if their experience is primarily in another language. This role is onsite, in Vergennes, Vermont.

WhatYouWill Do:

  • You will design, code, analyze, and troubleshoot LabVIEW software and related test scripts for complex test systems.
  • You will develop and maintain test documentation, plans, procedures, and reports and write test requirements and detailed design documents.
  • You will utilize standard lab equipment to execute test equipment validation proedures.
  • You will troubleshoot complex issues that may be software, hardware, system, or product related to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • You will interface with Customers, External Suppliers, Program Managers, Engineering Managers, Mechanical, Software, Electrical, and Systems Engineers, as well as the Manufacturing organization.
  • You will manage of various projects with small teams of test engineers and outsourced test equipment hardware build.

WhatYouWill Learn:

  • You will learn the LabVIEW coding language utilizing online course offerings provided by National Instruments preparing you for National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer certification.
  • You will learn to utilize standard lab equipment to troubleshoot complex problems or validate test equipment for a variety of aerospace hardware interfaces in a hands-on lab environment.
  • This is a hands-on position where you may utilize hand tools for light assembly or small soldering tasks associated with test equipment manufacture, diagnostics, prototyping.
  • You will receive broad exposure to a wide range of product lines and various segments of the business while also receiving mentorship from experienced test equipment engineers.

QualificationsYouMust Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status)

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with PXI based National Instruments hardware, cRIO, FPGA, and data acquisition systems and the LabVIEW language.
  • National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer (CLED) or other software coding experience.
  • Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs.
